BRIDE (authentic vs. replica)

A friend of mine mentioned to me that he purchased a set of Bride Brix Seats and heard about Replica's being made...his seats have the front/rear "BRIDE" embroidery and also has the reclinable knobs with the bride logo and the bride monster tag on the side of the seat. Having those items on the seats...are they authentic or replicas?

cabaynes 05-03-05 09:41 PM

i've never heard of bride replicas - but if he got them off ebay for super cheap, it's possible they're knockoffs... if he got them anywhere for super cheap, they're probably fake... isnt the Brix seats like $800 a pop?

TooMuch4You 05-03-05 10:45 PM

Yeah they do make replicas, you can find them on eBay every now and then. Apparently they're made with the exact same parts as the authentic Bride seats, except the fabric is different. A few STi guys were ditching their stock seats in favor of these replicas. There's a pretty large user review on the NASOIC forums.

eastondle 05-04-05 01:19 AM

they may look good in pictures, but after owning a set of real BRIDE BRIX (and yes they're 800+ a piece :D) you can tell right away when you see the replicas... nowadays, replicas are getting a lot harder to notice though and simply do not feel the same.

DriftingB26RX7 05-04-05 01:22 AM

yea i know someone who can get then for i think 300 a pair for any seat

saburo 05-04-05 06:00 AM

Its against my philosophy to buy rip off parts. I pay full dollar, no matter what the cost. Buy real.

jic 06-05-05 06:18 PM

yupp ^^
real deal is the way to go
and yeah ive seen the replica bride seats. its ONLY fabric difference
the knob has bride logo, the little moster tag, and both logos in front and back
from far..theres no way to tell

p4nc7 06-05-05 07:03 PM

All about real...original stuff is the way for me. =)

never buy replicas for your safety, they're not crash tested.

real ones are tested and engineered to sustain 25+G of collision(with 175lbs driver/passenger).

thank you... all to many times i have seen shit go wrong cuz of cheap wheels

bc_fd3s 12-25-09 11:26 AM

I wouldn't trust anything NASIOC says. They seem to have a boner of ROTA wheels as well....

Battle Cat 12-25-09 01:54 PM

lulz

raffer 12-25-09 02:55 PM

I would contact the factory or the makers of the original bride seats and ask them how i can tell the real ones from the fakes ! look at the tien web site for an example .

Battle Cat 12-25-09 03:00 PM

well real brides say bride all along the padding, the knock off's dont.. atleast all the ones ive seen ..

Hmmm. Interesting I was looking into these. Just curious if anyone in the automotive world has done a side by side internal comparison between the canadian and Japanese bride seats. I am not against buying eBay parts as long as they perform on par with their expensive counterparts.

As for the rota remarks I was on the gtr forum and saw a member who went to the trouble of ultra sounding and x-raying the wheels after a track day and clearing them of defects. Why someone would put rotas on a gtr is beyond me but it would be an interesting comparison to see the difference between the two produces.

Prometheus 03-17-10 01:52 AM

I have a set of Gias LowMax's

there is a paper ID sticker slapped on the bottom of the seat.

And they are full carbon/ Kevlar (not a wrap over a fiberglass shell)

inhave to admit, for as expensive as these seats are, you'd think they'd hold up better in an accident.

YouTube BRIDE crash tests & you won't want to buy anything that reclines...

I'm suretheir FIA buckets are much better.

But these seats look sooooooo dope.

Bride Japan VS. Bride Taiwan

Not sure what you are talking about here?(Ref quote above) Your very obviously misinformed, or confused! Canada has nothing to do with the manufacture of Bride seats Japanese or otherwise. The fact of the matter is, where you buy something has nothing to do with where it originated, if that is in fact what your issue with Canada is.
In the future I'd suggest you take the time to educate yourself before posting nonsense! Or at least qualify your position.

So everyone is clear. Bride seats, the real ones we know and love, are registered and trademarked as well as manufactured in Japan.

The "knockoffs" are a registered and trademarked product of Taiwan. Manufactured in Taiwan, China, and Korea. Exact wording from Ebay ad, for Taiwanese Bride products goes as follows:

"Bride" is a legal registered trademark in Taiwan. This seat is not made in Japan.

This is why you can search on Ebay and find seats of the same apparent brand and model with such a discrepancy in price.
As to the quality of each? Like someone else mentioned, do you want to take the risk in a crash? They could be as good or better, but how do you know for sure. Has anyone researched crash data from either company?
The reason they can post on Ebay and use the Bride trademark is due to the fact that they both are registered legal trademarks in their respective countries. Legally one is no more valid then the other in that respect. So the discussion it seems is:

Bride Japan:icon_tup: VS. Bride Taiwan:icon_tdow

The best indication as of right now that I have found is that the "fakes", further to be referred to as: Taiwan Bride Seats, do not use CF or Kevlar. Most often they are FRP when in fact if it was the JDM version they would be in CF or Kevlar form, or at lest provide that as an option. This will change, as anything one can do the other can copy.

Reality is, it should be easy to spot with a small amount of research, or better yet, buy your parts through a local registered distributor, its the best way to know for sure, and your supporting your community. Seems pretty intuitive to me, no?

Hope this helps to clear things up for perspective buyers!

I agree on fake seats...its more a safety issue. Real BRIDE seats are $800 bucks for a reason, in the event of a crash your life can be saved with those seats. they are used in racing in Japan and their standards are way more stringent.

Also DOUBLE...eff that TRIPLE that wheels.

That is why ROTAS Fail...Japanese and German have to pass way harder tests. It is weird that we here in the US have D.O.T. ratings...which is the LOWEST in safety compared to Japan and Gerrman standards.

I was pretty tempted once...I found some cool looking BRIDE REPLICAS for my GSLSE for like $300 with rails...brand new etc...and I knew they were fake but man they would of looked so good...but decided not to in the end. Fake sucks...

WingsofWar 03-17-10 03:55 AM

when it comes to safety and performance equipment, it should be common sense to use quality parts. The argument with Replica or original should only matter to a certain degree.
If an original part used less quality material and build than a replicated part and showed the data and testing done, of course your going to choose the replica.

In this scenario, Replicated bride seats from Taiwan doesn't seem like they have any advantages over original bride seats. Price obviously reflects this. I am not saying go and buy real shit only. I am recommending that you save your life through responsible purchases and buy quality seats with real data and engineering.
