Bose CD player wont accept burnt CD's
 

My 94 FD's CD player wont accept burnt CD's. I have had some luck burning on some 650Mb recordable media but most of the time it just spits the CD back out. This is not limited to burnt CD's as it does this now with my purchased CD's. Sometimes I need to put the CD in about 5 for 6 times before it accepts it.

Is the laser stuffed ! Has anyone has the same problem. Is it worth getting it fixed ? How much is a new laser ? Can one be put in that will read burnt CD's 700Mb 80 Min ones ? :(

you are dealing with an old laser that cant read the low (shallow) burn on burnt cd's. you can get a new head or send you current head out for a refurb where they will upgrade your laser. BAM!

FWIW no one I know has done this to prove that it works. but I have talked to them many times and they will say you should send them the cd that wont play and they will make sure it plays before they send it back to you. If you cant read regular cds either, you might have other issues.

you can also send it back to bose. In the mean time, try different brand of cdr's and try a slower burn rate. I found that some cds play better than others and a slower burn help a bit. Black cdrs wouldnt play at all where as panasonics would play but skip a bit. In the end you'll find that you are mostly out of luck. technology that old is...well, old. GL

Your CD player is slowly dying. My CD player was just like that. It would spit out original CDs and burnt CDs. I would have to push them back in a few times before it would read it. After a while the CD player wont accept any CDs. I replaced the headunit and cd player with a single DIN aftermarket cd player.
