Bose with aftermarket amp

I've read through past posts and it looks like I can use the line level outputs from a stock Bose head unit to supply an after-market amp and speakers. Has anyone actually done this successfully? My bose amps and speakers are sounding their age and but I'd like to keep the stock head unit (or use a Miata one if I can ever find one).

Thanks,
Alan

Ideas.

Its possible. As long as you can find the correct line out wires. You can ask somone at the dealership for the wiring, If they are nice someone can print them out for free. What you can do is either hook them up to the high level inputs of an aftermarket amp, however since is is low level signal some amps can not take that and amp it well. Another way which I have donw is to actually splice a set or RCA ends onto the wires, then run theise into the RCA inputs of the amp. It works, but you can run the risk of getting some engine wine.

Getting the wiring diagram is not a problem (posted above). My plan was to try option B.

Thanks

Sure, if you have any issues let me know. I've done that option in a number of cars and if something should arrise I may have an answer.

I would imagine that if you ran RCA inputs through shielded wiring, you'd not have that problem.
