Did a search and didn't find anything on this topic.

Has anyone changed out the headlights on the FD for those new blue lights you are starting to see on the newer cars? Can that even be done?

Blue tinted bulbs aren't quite the same as HID, if this is what you're referring to.

You can replace the bulbs, but blue and yellow may be illegal (it is in CA). So you will have to check your local province laws. If so, you can get purple (PIAA) like I have (pictured above). It should only be a very subtle tint. It it is ver nocticable then you are loosing light for color. Nokia also makes an Artic purple replacement bulb.

yeah I have them...I guess they are an upgrade but the lighting is still miserable...If you are talking about real HID thats big bucks...there are a couple of HID kits out there. rotary extreme is one I know off the top of my head

IMO, if you want to upgrade the stock lighting, get the Sylvania Silverstars bulbs and adjust your beam pattern. It will make a world of difference for less than $50:

i have piaa spark blue bulbs in mine. very nice color and similar beam to the silverstars. they're pretty pricey for just standard halogens though

Without going full HID lights WITH projectors (do it the right way!! :D), Sylvania Silverstars are probably the best route to go with for better lighting.

Actual Blue lights will be illegal everywhere, as they are only authorized for use on Police cars - the same law that makes forward facing Red lights illegal.
If you go with HIDs, stay with 4300~4700K, unless you are building a show car - the usable light goes down as the color goes up. I have a set of 4300K bulbs in my stock pop ups and they work great 100x better than stock - a fraction of the cost of projectors (but not near as clean a pattern) I tried a 7000K bulb to see the look, and it was pretty - but nowhere near the same light output

I agree. Unless you are just going to full HID then only get a set of bulbs with a light blue tint on the glass, this will produce a nicer and cleaner white light on the ground. But as the stock FD lighting goes, it sucks. Ebay is a good place to get bulbs because they're going to burn out anyway.
