Antenna powered when head unit is powered or only for radio?
For those of you with aftermarket stereos, does the antenna retract when you change the source to a non-radio source, such as CD? Or is the antenna lead powered whenever the entire head unit is on, regardless of source?
Right on. |
Depends on the head unit. If there is a dedicated Antenna lead, then yes, it's only up when the radio is on. If you have to tap the Amp remote lead, then no, it will be up any time the head unit is on.

It's a Nak 45z....and I think it has a remot antenna lead. Only one way to find out..thanks for the info.
Right on. |
Right on, indeed.

Most every head unit sends power down the antenna turn on lead anytime the unit is powered up. It doesn't care that you're listening to a CD, it raises the antenna anyway.

Mine cares. ;)
