Amps for Convertible
 

Anyone confirm for me that the rear speaker amp and headrest speaker amp are totally separate from each other? Or, does signal from system go through the rear amp before going to the headrest amp?

Any thoughts on replacing either or both of these?

I believe that they are seperate, I just took out the rear speaker amp in my 90 vert, and ran the rear speakers off my new radio, and the headrest speakers still work with the factory switches and volume control.

Thanks for the info. Now I am trying to determine if my headrest speaker switch is bad or the amp. Still open to suggestions?

Anyone replace headrest amp or speakers with after market devices?

Did you ever get an answer on this or did you come up with your own solution?

well whatever you do, if you get a aftermarket amp dont just throw it in the back, or itll get too hot and turn off after like 30 minutes of loud music

Rear Speakers? Do you mean the door speakers?

Rear speakers in vert are right behind the seats, and I did find out that the headrest speakers run off a separate amp. I think the headrest speaker amp is shot. Thanks for the tip on aftermarket amps. Haven't had time to work on this lately.

What year did they start doing this? In 88 I had two dash, 2 door, and 4 headrest speakers. I always thought it would be nice to have some more bass from the back.

Not sure what year. Mine is a 91.
