Alpine recall?
I was talking to a gentleman that has ties to Alpine this evening, and he told me that the CDA-9000 series head units have been internally recalled because the system's brain was switched by the Chinese manufacturer. Alpine has been quietly switching out the old units with the proper ones. I've been having issues with my CDA-9853- the faceplate won't fold out, so Alpine will be hearing from me. I'm truly disappointed with this company.

^really? I have yet to have a problem with mine. I love my 9853
|
I love mine as well. I also had the problem with the faceplate not opening. but the problem was that the trim around the outside was pinching the faceplate. I just popped it off and put it on better and the problem was solved. Alpine was smart enough to build their headunits not to break themselves.

~Mike ALPINE RULES!!! |
This year is not good for Alpine
There is a big post over at CarSound about the problems http://www.carsound.com/UBB/ultimate...;f=18;t=009909 The 9853 and 55 haven't even shipped to Canada yet because Alpine caught the problem and halted the shipment. The 9835 is top notch still... |
I work in the Mobile Istallation Department at Best Buy and we have switched out a lot of the Alpine CDA-9853. Actually, all of there motorized face models have had problems.

I have a 9833 for a year and no issues.
|
I just installed a 9851 in my FC this week. I love the MP3 CD capability. I'm still getting a whine in the speakers, but I've yet to diagnose the problem.
|
Sorry off topic, but I just installed a 9853 and want to change the button backlighting colors to match the dash colors. Is this possible? I thought it was but can't seem to find out how to do it?
TIA Crispy |
I don't think you can change the colors on either the 9853 or 9855. I have the 9853 also and the color is set to blue only.
|
Rats. From what I've read the 9855 does have the ability to change colors. :(
