If you want to put a sub at the back, your best bet is to make a custom box. Here are some of the boxes of other members and the one I'm making. But beware that you will add a lot of weight at the rear of your car.

Nom mine, but it is way too big; so I have to fill the gap, and it's getting quite heavy.

mine works great, plus when you flip the back carpet up
no one will ever know that you have a sub in your car,
and besides i really don't trust my 18yr old spare tire that
used to be sitting back there

I planned on doing something very similar to the first 3 pics but in a not so fancy way and using 8's instead. I know, who the heck uses 8's anymore. I'm not into bass like I used to be, but I still want to feel a little. My 5 1/4 components just aren't doing it for me.

On the contrary we saw a guy last year come in with 4 8's and blew a 148.3dB. As for normal listening your right, shes not going to reach as low unleess you tune her that way. The box makes the driver not the other way around. :)

Wow, what kinda 8's and what type of enclosure was he using?

i dunno about that guy, but i was planning on using some RF 8's each rated at 200watts RMS.
