1993 Oem Speaker Size

what is the OEM Speaker Size for the 1993 model?

maxcooper 09-07-04 03:11 PM

BOSE or non-BOSE?

EDIT: And which speakers? Door? Dash? Rear sides? Or Bose tube?

SpeedKing 09-07-04 03:11 PM

Non-BOSE? 5.25" front, 5x7 Rear, however, you can go 6.25" (shallow mount) up front, and 6x8 rear.

maxcooper 09-07-04 03:13 PM

My non-Bose front speakers were normal (but shallow) 6.5". The FWM says the size is 6.3". I suspect the 5.25" rumor is from people installing deep aftermarket stuff.

Woops, 6.25" was a typo! 6.5" it is. :)

pianoprodigy 09-07-04 06:31 PM

Allow me to re-emphasize...SHALLOW! I have Infinity Kapp Perfect Components (5.25) that I made a custom pod for. It was a big pain to get the depth just right. I would definitely look for something less than 2.5, and it was still a pretty big pain.

BTW pp, why didn't you just go 6.5"?

Answer to Question 1: Part #waytoomanyhoursforspeakers
Answer to Question 2: I ask myself that daily to be honest...The Kappa Perfects are very clean and loud, but the midbass department is lacking a bit especially considering I am only running the components and the Basslink. Will I ever change them? Probably not considering how much work it involved.

yes the front speakers can not have a deep driver. so the back magnet must be small. this is why 5-5.25 is mostly recommended as almost all 6+ have large drivers.

how do you remove the center speaker? my ride is just a base 93 model(non bose)

Pry the cover off. Unscrew the speaker. Easy enough?

cirQuis 09-12-04 12:28 PM

some other rides(nissan or toyota) will require to remove the dash...which is why i asked the question...

There's a cover in the middle of the dash. It's intuitive that you remove it to access the speaker, no???

I have 6 1/2s which are actually 6 3/4 up front. I just made a speacer ring out of 1/4" MDF and it fit nice. Gives me just enough clearence for the window. on the back I got regular 6 x 8

This are my front

So, I'm I going to have problems fitting my Boston Pro 6.5's in the front?? I currently have Boston Pro 4's but they are way too small.. Sounds horrible..

If the woofer exceeds a mounting depth of 2.5", then yes.

David88vert 09-17-04 09:18 AM

I can get them in there. It's a little drive to Atlanta, but if you really want to get them in there and have problems, PM me.

I was looking to install a 6.5 as well. I just ordered these PVC Speaker Adapters - CNC Machined - In Stock or Custom Made .has anyone used them? pianoprodigy...Do you know how much you had to build the speaker out?

I've used them to replace stock Bose they fit well mounted my x-overs on them too but with my 6.5 focals the glass hits the magnet on the way down I just don't roll my window down

SUKS2BU 06-13-14 10:08 PM

Just build kickpanels and you will have no magnet depth or window issues. And way better sound!

SUKS2BU 06-13-14 10:59 PM

If you want really good midbass upfront put some 5.25' midbass only in the doors playing from @100hz-600hz with a 24db slope passive crossover and put a good set of coaxials or components in some custom kickpanels. I used this set up in my S5 FC I competed with. This setup will make the kick drum range feel like it's coming from the front like at a real concert. Your sub should just provide some rear fill unless you want all your bass coming from the rear I don't.

So the bose system, what sizes should I be looking for?
