***Red Stitching e-brake handle***

Hello everyone I recently got the redline goods console cover, e-brake and shift boots. After installing them it made my e-brake handle look ratty, so I've been looking for replacements. I didn't want to spent a fortune for the spirit R handle. I then found this on flea bay and gave it a try.

a pic of it installed

I did have to cut the lower collar to get it to fit. It's not as nice as a spirit R handle :( but for $25 it's better than what was originally there. and matches nicely with the redline goods.

Looks great! How was redlines armrest cover? I just got a black and white boot to replace a 5.0 mustang one I had on my fc and have been trying to decide if I should just finish out the set from them.

redline goods are just awsome I wish they made leather covers for the door panels and dashboard. Instal was a breeze I just followed David Hayes step by step guide found here

NOTHING looks better than OEM! For a second I thought I was looking at a Honda Civic :gotrice:

twinsinside 05-16-11 09:48 PM

I loves my redline goods shifter and ebrake boots.

moosejaw 05-16-11 10:11 PM

i just paid a pretty penny to redo my ebrake in the red stitching

oppa637 05-17-11 12:36 AM

Looks nice

GodSquadMandrake 05-17-11 07:54 AM

I just took mine to the local Korean seamstress and got it done for $5.

moosejaw 05-17-11 10:04 AM

I redid the handle as well, the threads had to be done by hand as that was the expensive part.
The boot was only $35

puz pounda 05-17-11 05:13 PM

I wish redline goods sold a replacement that looked oem

How does the Redline boot cover attached? Adhesive like the tunnel cover? Looks like the edge near the release button is peeling away.

Hi

it slides on the existing handle. And it should be glued down to the handle next to the button... So in all this install shows a hasty, but not the perfect way to install it. It's not really noticable in the car though, you're not likely (and your passengers even more) to notice it when you're driving. If it would bother you to know it's there, you need to glue it down ,but frankly I myself couldn't be bothered.

Have a great day,
Maciek

This is about as tacky as the carbon fiber overlay. You guys are "F"ing-up a classy interior, what's next fussy dice?

I will post some pictures after I receive my cover and install it. This is a great option for me because:

1: My e-brake looks horrible as its the only part of my interior that hasnt been replaced/refinished

2. I could not get off my e-brake handle without destroying it

3. This cover will match the stitching in the rest of my interior

I think everyone heard you the first time you were wrong in this thread.
The OEM shifter and ebrake boot is made of cheap black vinyl. IIRC Mazda then lamanated it to fabric to keep it from splitting before warranty was through. On many cars that vinyl had separated and peeled from the fabric beneath it. They're about as "classy" as Roseann Barr popping out of a 10 yr old's birthday cake.
I've been running the Redline goods boots in my car for about 7 years and been very happy. Unlike that faux leather OEM boot your so proud of, it's real leather with real stitching and has stood the test of those years. Longer than OEM did.

You could be right sir and maybe I am wrong but when you are one out of 100 people doing something normally, it doesn't make you special. It just means you might want to look around!
Getting the leather wrap cool:cool:, but the red stitching just looks out of place in a 17-year-old car. I’m sure you have seen the Honda Civics with the different color sectional seats and stitching well that’s kind of what it looks like.

This entire thread should be in the Interior section where it belongs and since I rarely look there, I wouldn't have to look at it

Why is colored stitching out of place "in a 17 year old car"?

MattGold 05-23-11 06:47 PM

The Spirit-R RX-7, released in 2002 came with red stitching standard. Hardly out of place or tacky.

For truly tacky, check out THIS interior:

LoL... I just realized the guy who is calling red stitching tacky actually has THIS room in his house...

REALLY, this is the best you can do???
1994 OEM interior EXCEPT floor mats, boost gauge, wideband, PFC, and radar.

I sold this car for almost TWICE as much as I paid for it and didn't have to spend $300.00 plus dollars to make it look like a Honda:lol:

You could have a room just like this one; Oh WAIT NO team in FL has EVER won a NCAA basketball championship:egrin: Hopefully I'll have another one to add to my collection next year!

Miami, home of the wide body kits, thin tires and green wheels:dubs:, you might want to pull back from the computer before it gets deep:stickpoke

It's funny, I have quite a bit of red accents and red stitching in my interior (cheap tacky Spirit-R stuff) and somehow my car seems to win it's fair share of car shows. I guess I'm lucky that the judges don't have as good of taste as you do :icon_tup:

I think you made your opinion pretty clear, how about you meander off to another thread and share your amazing insight elsewhere, Oh Rotary Guru....thanks much.
