Thumbs down Stuck in new member section!

Hi, I have 10 posts and still stuck in the New Member Section. This use to be on of my fav sites particularly just to window shop and day dream about my next FD build. But since I never registered this site has made it a goal to make the barrier of entry very high. Very disappointed....

We are working on removing all posting barriers for new members. You may have to have 10 posts and 24 hours of membership before you're allowed to post elsewhere. just the way it was set up somehow. Be patient as a fix on on the way.

As a new member, I too am suffering some 'learning pains', and may be frustrated somewhat by the 'trainimg rules'.
But I have read some posts by the 'old hands' which also make a sound case why these policies are beneficial. Before you throw the baby out with the bathwater, consider the shoe worn on the other foot! It may be uncomfortable to a degree, but the policy may have merit.
In the meantime, join me in exercising a little patience! (and anyone who knows me will tell you ... not MY forte!).

If you guys only knew how many people, over the years, have made and account, sold or bought parts, got over, then disappeared with no trace and made life shitty for real members. The rule was made to protect people from getting ripped off, and makes this site that much safer when it comes to spending money on parts for these rare cars.

10 posts isn't that many if you actually like RX-7s. Post a few pics of yours! Comment on someone else's! Tell us a joke. Tell us how good/bad/fast/slow your old car was.
There's lotsa stuff to banter back and forth about.

For example: New Zealander Scott Dixon tied up the Indycar series yesterday at Sonoma. He's the only guy besides AJ Foyt who's won 5 championships. A.J. did it over 50 years ago.

Thanks for you guys fixing the barrier! I'm a long term member and builder of my FD RX7, but last year it stopped allowing me to access the for sale/wanted section, bc I assume I don't have enough posts!

Completely agree with this. Racing to the classifieds section won't make things any easier if you have few posts. I for one am very skeptical about selling parts to people with few posts and a short history on the site, especially when I review an individual's post history and see their posts were of little substance with their only obvious agenda to post something stupid were to get to the classifieds faster. I impose certain restrictions such as payments accepted via PayPal's "friends and family" option if I do sell to these types of users.

While I do understand the “training wheels” so to say with the posting restrictions on new members, it is frustrating as well. Maybe instead of limiting someone strictly to posting within the new member section, what about just preventing them from posting or even viewing the classifieds section? Just thinking that might be a nice middle ground between keeping the forums safe but still allowing new members to take part in other discussions as well.

We are working on eliminating the restrictions all together. We understand the pros and cons of limiting new members and the potential for scamming by new members. We do recognize that if a scammer joins and decides to scam people, he can do it at 1 post or at 100 posts. This is partially why we have decided to remove the restrictions. It will be in effect as soon as we work out the final details.

I am a long time member on another forum where I needed 50 posts to look at the classifieds or PM someone. 10 posts is nothing.

I've run into the same issue with not being able to get to the classifieds section. Getting rid of the restrictions would be cool

Just seeing this. How close have you guys come to lifting the restrictions? I’m building my fd and can benefit from the used parts someone may have layin around.

As a longtime member, I hope the current restrictions are NOT lifted. I cruise the NEW MEMBER TECH section and try to help whenever possible. At the risk of sounding overly noble, I do that because I value the term "Club". This forum has been such a valuable resource for me over the years I want it preserved and continued. I'm retired and enjoy helping someone who makes the effort to post a half-intelligent question. Those complaining about the restrictions in this thread illustrate the opposite. They're motivated only by the market in parts. That's fine...I guess. But if you're truly an enthusiast it shouldn't be the sole reason to register. And true enthusiasts don't scam. Some of us have been here long enough to remember those sections have been plagued over the years by scammers and thieves. The mods in those sections have they're hands full already, can't see loosening requirements helping. And the new members should keep in mind that getting ripped off, sometimes for several hundred dollars, can do a number on a tight car budget.
If your serious about owning, maintaining and preserving an RX7 the minimum post requirements are laughably easy. You only value what you've earned. I say stop complaining and contribute.

You can search for "tech info" to your heart's content, you can download a copy of the FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL, you can read thru the FAQ Sticky's for the generation of rotary you're interested in, and finally, you can post a question in the NEW MEMBER TECHNICAL section.

Regardless, you registered almost a year ago. Looks like your first post was about 6 months later in May of this year. You now have 4 posts total, including the two in this thread. The brutal pace of your participation in the forum must be killing you.
