Moderator question

How does one become a moderator? I'm really interested in finding out :)

gsl-se addict 02-14-12 07:44 AM

Typically, the people who become moderators have a long history on here. We want people who are level-headed and responsible. If we need new mods, each of us will usually propose names of people who we think that would be good for the job, and if we all agree, we will ask that person if it is something that they are interested in.

Basically, it is: "Don't call us, we'll call you." :)

If you have a good posting history, always helpful, etc., it will be noticed by someone and we may contact you down the road if we need additional help.

and then you can enter a nuclear reactor core and spent a fortnight there, only then can one attain to the ranks of SUPER MODERATOR!

you dont have to love them but you shouldnt hate them

I love them.. I am actually trying to talk a friend into an LSx swap. He has been through numerous engines in the few years I have known him.
I plan on doing a 350 1G myself someday.
Good times. :nod::icon_tup:
Kent is right. Moderators here need to be level headed, and leave the bias at the door when they enter here. So weather V8 or 20B our Mods will do our best to help make this forum the best it can be.
Its when the rules get broke it doesn't matter what you have under the hood, we will enforce the rules. :egrin:

gsl-se addict 02-15-12 07:24 AM

You don't have to like the swaps, but you also can't ban people just because they like the swap either. :) You have to be fair and enforce the rules. It can demand a fair amount of time and you can also get a lot of crap from some people just because you enforce the rules. However, it is a job that needs to be done and hopefully the site is better because of it. You will notice that this site is 99.999% spam-free, which says a lot for a site this large. We also invest a lot of time trying to prevent scammers and repeat bad sellers on here. It can take a fair amount of effort to do this, but we feel that it is worth it in order to protect the members on here.

I agree 100% percent. Forums work better when mods are opened minded and not bias to things or members. Should always be supportive to a better cause and not demeaning. And its true about the spam, its been along time since ive seen some here.

Should be supportive of the little guy and not the "better cause" is the correct way to state the heinous state of affairs y'all done be talkin' about. Fact is, the SuperModerators have to take a teleconference "blood oath" to always make peeps think rotary first, so we may have a new opening here in a bit.

To get back to the question, it was absolutely best stated by gsl-se addict:
"Don't call us, we'll call you."
On top of that, this place really does run like the real corporate world when it comes to "promotions."

Networking is key - it's sometimes who you know, not always what you know.
