Moderator Approved Posts/Where for Noobs to post.

I've been trying to figure this out, maybe I just didn't check enough threads, but I was wondering if Mods have to approve all posts/threads or if it was just in the For Sale thread. I don't want to sell anything, but I was just trying to find a definately answer as to how this particular forum works. I read about "no flaming", "no bumping", and you have to acutally contribute to sell, etc. But, in 15 minutes, I've tried to repy to a couple of threads and I got a message "you can't post here until 5 posts" then I tried to reply to another one and my reply just dissapeared. I plan on posting an official intro when I can post pics from home, but until then was just going to browse and throw a couple of posts out there. Just can't get it figured out. I'm sure someone else has had this problem too.

What are the absolute sections I can post in (to get my 5), and are there any restrictions after that?

Ok,

You can post in any of the New member sections, Into, How to, Tech.

After you have gotten your 5 post you can post anywhere, there are a few sub-sections that you still have to be approved to have your post appear in the section, like the for sale section.

To add to what Chuck is saying, we have put the 5 post rule into effect because of spam on the forums. And this forum gets the "bad type" of spam to where it can get somebody fired. We have completely eliminated spam from the forum by 99.9%. I can't say it's 100%, because nothing never is 100%.

Once you reach 10 posts, you are also able to post a thread in the Classifieds or respond to a thread in the Classifieds. You also require I believe 3 posts to send a Private Message to a member (you can still PM any Moderator, Super Moderator, or Administrator if you dont have 3 posts).

ok- thanks guys. Just was a little confused on the whole thing. I'm used to forums having rules on the "for sale" threads, but not on posting in general.

thanks for the info!

I've noticed over the last month or so, I've gotten a message awaiting a Mods approval before my post can be viewed......is that new?

When posting a new thread is not new, it's been active since July of this year. However requiring an approval for just a post in the Classifieds should not be.

When posting in the New Members sections posts do need to be approved by a Moderator.

Five Post Rule

Yeah, the five post rule is still a little baffling to me. I understand that we are allowed to post in the newbie section under three categories: Introduce Yourself, Forum Rules, and Tech Help. But, if I post an introduction, comment on the rules and ask a question under Tech Help---well, then, that's just three posts and I am already done. What am I supposed to do after that? Go back and post a welcome to subsequent new members? Comment some more on the forum rules? Rack my head to come up with another tech question? Of course, I understand that the site is trying cut down on spamming. But, how are you even supposed to come up with five posts with such a limited number of open forums available to newbies? Well, anyway, I guess I just got another post out of the way.

There is also a Questionnaire that gives you three, but because new members don't read the sticky's, that is why u are clueless.
