Etiquette on Location Badge?

I've noticed a lot of emphasis on the location icons throughout the tutorials, so I wanted to ask for a brief clarification to make sure I'm using them correctly.

When posting a new thread, the option to add a location icon is directly below the text box. I clicked "AZ" for this post.

Is it required/polite/necessary to include a location icon when replying to a post? From what I can tell, it is possible, but requires you to drill down into "Go Advanced", as opposed to simply replying to the post.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Good question Cal.
When starting a thread it is good to know where the Location of the Poster is.That is why in the New section it is recommended, especially when posting an INTRO.
For all intents and purposes it needs to be in WTB and For Sale ads to show location so that a person replying can judge where the items are and adjust accordingly( like shipping or should I just go there and get it..etc).
But it is Not "absolutely" necessary to put it up in Replies to threads as your Screen info (under your screen name,Avatar, etc) should be sufficient to show who you are and where you are.
So you can leave it out in Replies..as well as mentioning your name too.Your screen name is good enough and is visible.

So,you don't have to place stuff like "HI Jack from Fuzzville here..your spindle-dorpen is falling off because..."..
But in the same token,That doesn't say that you not allowed to put a name at the end of a reply though.(like I will when I am done here).
I hope that answers your question.

Thanks, STYX. That makes perfect sense.
