Wiper Motor
 

Obviously I have no Haltech experience, but I do have a question.

When you install a Haltech EMS like the E6x and you remove the stock ECU and the stock wiring harness how do you run your windshield wiper motor.

I noticed while looking in my engine bay that the wiper motor is directly wired in the wiring harness which is removed upon installing a EMS.

If this is not correct please educate me.

You can take the harness tape and shielding off, and prolly separate the 2.

For an FC, I just run three new wires and splice into the stock harness.

Ok, but what if you no longer have the clip?

Basically I'm just asking for an explanation on how to wire up the wiper motor without the harness clip, and with an e6X.

Any input for this?

It's standard 0.250" spade connectors.
You can just crimp the spade connectors and insert them into the proper "pins".

Yeah, i figured that connecting into the motor itself wouldnt be a problem.
But how do I wire it up from there? Do I use any of the wiring from the Haltech, or is this on its own?
I just need info or a diagram on where and how to wire it up...

What year is the car?
It's different depending on S4 versus S5.

Its an 89, S5.

The ECU controls the wiper motors? I thought that the body computer controlled, or another computer did?

I think for my S4 it just plugs back into the kick panel into another computer...

This was after I fileted it out of the stock harness.

Any more info on this? I no longer have the Stock ECU or the wiring harness. I have a E6X and a wiper motor. How do I wire it up so that I can use the wipers again?

I'm looking to do this on Saturday, as one of the winter projects I need to finish.

the ecu does not controll the wiper motor it just runs through the same harness.

I understand that, and so how do I wire it up if I don't have the Wiper motor harness?

The wiper motor plug...
Looking at it if you're staring at the pins...

BLACK | BLUE/RED | BLUE/WHITE
BLUE | BLUE/YELLOW | BLUE

Notice, there are two BLUE wires.
You can splice both of them together.
I think these are the power leads to the wiper motor.

You need to match these wires to the ones of the two big plugs that are the crossover plugs for the dash harness.
These plugs are normally mounted on the passenger kickpanel.

Big YELLOW plug...
[] | [] | BLUE/WHITE | ... | BLUE | (black) | []
[] | [] | BLUE/RED | ... | BLUE/YELLOW | (black) | []
Do NOT use the "(black)" wires - those are given just as reference.
If you read the hokey diagram above...
The BLUE/WHITE lead is top row, 3rd pin from left.
The BLUE/RED lead is bottom row, 3rd pin from left.
The BLUE lead is top row, 3rd pin from right.
The BLUE/YELLOW lead is bottom row, 3rd pin from right.

For the other big WHITE/CLEAR plug...
This is where the ground goes...
Find the BLACK lead that is on the bottom row, just left of center of the tab.

All you have to do is run 5 wires (two BLUE leads are spliced) through the firewall, and then connect to the correct pins.

I had to do this to my FC. The wiper motor wires and cruise control wires are completely seperate from the stock ECU. If you just cut the electrical tape off the stock wiring harness you can pull just those connectors from the rest and connect just those. My wipers work just fine and the cruise control I'm hoping works but I need to hook up my T2 CC computer inplace of my NA one.

Well I sourced out an ECU harness that was cut, I cut the Wiper Motor Harness out of it, and rewrapped it up on its own.

One end plugs directly into the Wiper Motor, and the other end is a Yellow/Clear plug.

There are 2 crossover connectors under the dash, just about the passenger side kick panel. My problem is that the connector that I have does not plug into either of those connectors.

Anyone know why this is? My car is an S5 Turbo, and I'm not sure what year car the harness came from that I have.

I guess I'll have to splice the one end into the wires Ted stated above, although I'm confused as from my research, I assumed it was plug and play with the harness.

its probably an S4- S5 difference.

I know whne I intially installed my Haltech in the S4 TII I didn't have to cut the wires for the wipers or cruise control at all. After un-wrapping the engine harness to track the wires for the wipers/crusie I found they run entirely seperate within the engine harness loom, and simply go to their own plug which is in the location you mention (passenger's kick panel)

So, if you've got that harness (wiper to passenger kick panel) and it doens't plug in, its probably from a different series.

Yeah, I think that is the issue as well. Since I have the harness already, I might just throw on some spade connectors according to Ted's post above, and call it a day.
