Where should the "Road Speed"-wires go?
Hi!
I have started to install my Haltech and I wonder where the "Road Speed"wires from the Haltech-harness should go? |
I was wondering too. All the previouse posts I found said to not use them, that there just for logging speed along with all the other data when you data log runs and stuff...so I didnt hook them up.

OK, but I want to logg the speed!
Unfortunately, there are no electric speed sensors to plug into, unless you have an auto. The speedometer/odometer is run mechanically via a geared cable. So if you want to log speed (which I do, but don't have the money) is install some sort of sensor to you drive shaft, or wheels

hmmm, that was bad. Thanks for the info!
Would it be possible to use the ABS sensor or at least the wheel for road speed ?
I hate to hijack this thread but does anybody know if I can replace the wire the goes the front/passenger side speed sensor? My exhuast housing has cooked it.
Ive read that there is a road speed sensor and my haltech was wired into one in the previous owners car
I've been looking at the stock wiring diagrams for my 85, and I noticed that there is a wire going from the speedo to ecu, cruise, and A/T. I'm not sure what kind of signal this is, but AFAIK the haltech requires a signal that oscillates. This wire could be anything, so when I get my car running, I'll grab the O-scope and check it out. Who knows what kind of signal it is though, it could be binary or simple changing voltage vs speed, but its worth looking into.

Isn't there a speed sensor for the speed sensitive steering???
FC cruise control gets speed signal for sure since it does not work under/over certain speed.....
There is a cruise control wire. I don't remember the color, but it's there. Tap into that.
the fd guys have a road speed sensor on the trans.
you can supposedly make this sensor work on the fc trans if you eliminate the mechanical speedo setup. you can also rig it into the cruise control/aas/power steering speed signal. |
yeh, I was planning on swapping to a FD speed sensor anyways since Im running a AM speedo, which requires a electric speedo also.
