what does a msd-8509 do? do i need it?
ok im gettin all preped for the haltec install ive read the instal@
http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/haltech_install.html and it seems strait forward but it mentions 12. This next photo shows the Reluctor plugs as well as the Oil Metering pump connections. You will use the MSD 8509's to convert the Reluctors signal from a Sine Wave to a Square Wave. There is talk that you can wire the Haltech without the 8509's and it will work correctly. I chose to use the MSD parts for safety. wtf dose that mean? msd-8509 Magnetic Signal Stabilizer can anyone help? thanks |
If you are using an E6K and the stock second gen CAS you will not need the 8509's. these devices try to help the built reluctor interpret the signal. I tried these devices with an E6S and could not get the ECU to pick up the CAS signal. Use the E6K and the stock CAS or eliminate all potential signal problems and build a chopper wheel and braket for the S1 or S2 switches which give a very sharp signal to the ECU

ok so i need the crank angle sensors from a 2nd gen?? or am i just dumb and didnt get what u meant,
i have a fd, so should i get t2 cas sensor along with the t2 omp? thanks len |
Okay, I have not looked at Steve's site in awhile, and I know he has Anthony's install on there and he uses the 8509s. There is no need for the addition cost. Go to my site and get the wiring for using the stock harness if you are lazy and use a map that works.
You can use all the stock parts on your car, just cut the ECU harness and splice in the Haltech one. Simple, explained on my site. Read my site, then repost. |
ok thats what i need to hear, i just heard back from steve and he said u dont need them 2, it just cleans up the signal
i cant wait to start this project:D THANKS!!! |
Bacon: Have you started your project yet? I am begining to wire mine ... it would be cool to compare notes .....
