upgrade from E6K

After having my 87 turbo II in storage for more than 6years I have decided to get it back on the road, was sitting in my warehouse just colllecting dust and really hate to part with it. Currently i have the E6K , i was wondering should i upgrade and take advantage of the new features and software of the newer models OR just keep it ?? I would appreicate comments suggestions from anyone, thanks

What features would you want to use? If there are a few that may justify the upgrade. If you're happy with the E6K, I'd keep it.

to be honest i am not sure, that is why i figured the best bet would be to ask the experts like yourself :). i have been out of the game for a while. The current setup is a mild port, 2mm seals, Greddy front mount, HKS turbo, external wastegate, larger injectors, etc. nothing too crazy, just want a reliable daily driver. my only issue was the software to program the e6K is kind of basic compared to the new units. I also am using an AVC-R boost controller, would the newer units allow me to get rid of this?

thanks!

The Sport ECUs have a lot of features that pretty well blow the E6K out of the water. But will you use them? If you just need a fuel and ignition controller, the E6K is a capable box. If you're going to make use of closed-loop boost control (which your ACV-R already does), closed-loop fuel control, flex-fuel control, water/meth injection control, etc., then it makes sense to take the leap.

The Sprint RE is somewhat of a lateral move IMO. The software is obviously orders of magnitude better. The datalogging is better and you get closed-loop fuel control. But the fuel and ignition control are similar. The software allows you to do some things that can make injector staging better with the Sprint. But is all the that worth the investment? That's for you to decide.

thanks for the feedback, you give me alot to think about. i definitely want to upgrade the software and would rather have one unit controlling everything rather than fooling around with a boost computer also, i guess i answered my own questions!! thanks!
