updateing the haltech software..
 

hey guys,
ive tuned the car useing the old 6.09 software.. but i have the 6.34 or sumpthing like that now installed on my laptop.. can i just install that on the laptop and tune it with the new stuff or do i have to upload other stuff to the haltech itself? thanks guys!

Just load the new comm program and connect and adjust away!

without the updated firmware some of the functions on the newer software might not work though.

what's the difference between the 2 e6k versions on haltechs website? there is this file E6K.zip and then this file E6K634 Compaq.zip?

One is for late model Compaq computers, since Compaq seems to have deleted some of the DOS character tables and the original proggie doesn''t display correctly.

It has nothing to do with function - you just can't read the jibberish. :)

where can one pick up the uoloaded firmware? its not zipped in with the e6k program.. you would think they would

Do you have a competent Haltech tuner local to you?
Haltech AUS does not recommend people trying to upgrade firmware on an E6K, as it can easily go awry; if it screws up, you need to send to back to them anyways.

Any particular firmware you're looking for?

Yeah I have a competiant tuner in the area, that does microtechs but he has done a few haltechs..
If i dont really need the Firmware and can get away with tuning just fine with the 6.34 I will..

bcty, i think when you turn on the computer(laptop) its says on the screen ie: firmware and then versian #. Its before you hit (y) for online.

all the tuning functions work the same, but there are some PWM functions that are different(sorry I don't remember which) on the 6.09 and without the correct firmware it won't work.
