tach going nuts?
 

I replaced my trailing coil and it still, once the car has heated the tach bounces crazy. From 0rpm to redline. I also removed all of my haltech E6K connections to look for cold solder points.

Could it be possible that the haltech settings are incorrect (this never happened the two years I have been driving it.) Constant charge and set at 4ms. the coil appears to run extremely hot.

Any ideas? does this hurt the car since I think the trailing coils come online then off again continuesly when this happens? Would it be safe to just disconnect it when I hit the track and run without the trailings?

One thing you can try, is to play with the TRIGGER and HOME GAIN settings. I know your map the gain for both is 2. I run 0 on both, because anything else means I get trigger issues, but that is with the 6X.

Thanks buddy. I will try that. I changed it to 4.5ms and it did not go nuts on the dyno yesturday. If on the track it happens again I will go with your recommendations. (What exactly does the gain do?) Response time?

Jacking the gains up allows the Haltech to be more sensitive to the ignition input.
Having it too high will allow too much noise to pass, and you will get false RPM readings.

As a test, disconnect the fuel injectors and jack the gains up to max.
The RPM's will jump even though the engine is not turning. :)
