since I'm going haltech

I won't be able to use my stock BPAV will I? Therefore I'll need an aftermarket BOV, ne1 have pics of where they have their's mounted on the stock intercooler piping with the stock TMIC.

MrRx Nov 17, 2005 06:31 PM

the haltech has nothing to do with the BOV. The bov is controlled by the boost pressure alone.

The BPAV on the TID runs a line to the BAC which is controlled by the ecu, correct?

If you're talking about a second gen:

1. The air bypass valve(stock BOV) does not need any computer input. It is not connected to the BAC valve.
2. The haltech can easily run the stock BAC valve.

If you're talking about the ACV (air control valve), its mostly for emissions and not (easily) usable with an aftermarket ECU.

I guess I jsut don't know what I'm talking about. Thanks for the input.
I'm used to talking in 2nd gen forum, yes, 89 t2 engine.

Did he answer your question? The Haltech and the bypass valve have nothing to do with each other, and since also you toss the AFM away too, you dont have to recirculate the air back inside the intake tract.

I'm pretty sure he means By-Pass Air Valve, Ted.

I just know there is an electrical connection on the BAC on the UIM. I thought it went to the t2 ecu, but I guess not, I'll get it figured out tomorrow. Thanks for help.

Claudio RX-7 Nov 19, 2005 12:04 AM

The BAC valve, responsable for Idle control, DOES have a connection to the ECU. The Blow Off / Diverter valve, that goes from the turbo pipe to the pipe after the AFM DOESNT.

The BAC valve on the UIM CAN be controlled by the Haltech.

Hmmm...I need to go dig into the FSM, but I swear there was nothing called a "BPAV"?

I know there's an "Air Bypass Valve" - same thing?
