Racepak IQ3 display only to factory sensors

Like the title says. I want to know if I can make this work. First let me explain. I have a rx8 that I swapped a fd engine to. I want to replace stock dash with a racepak iq3 but I am tight on money. So my question is can I use the display only and use the sensors that the engine currently has. I can afford the udx version but dont like it as much. Just want to know if its possible thanks.

Or is there a way to make the stock rpm and speedo work

Do you have a haltech ECU?

I am using a microtech lt10

I would prefer to have the oem dash working but I cant figure it out thats why I am considering the iq3

First of all, the RX-8 runs all the gauges and other functions (AC for example) through the OE CAN network. When you remove the stock ECU, you break the CAN loop and things quit working. The MT can easily be installed in parallel with the stock ECU to keep the functionality of all the gauges. I've built a couple patch looms for the 8 for MT and Haltech ECUs and it's fairly straight forward. Adaptronics plug-in ECU does the same thing, just has the patch loom built in to the ECU case.

On the Racepak end, yes it can be done but it's going to be expensive. Roughly $700 for the dash and then another couple hundred in Universal Sensor Module (USM) and other bits to make it do what you want it to. I'd spend that money (a lot less actually) on having a proper patch loom made.

I'm keeping the oem ecu. I am thinking about making a bracket and attaching the sensor to read the wheel and that way it might give me rpm n speed

If your keeping the RX-8 stock computer and all the wiring still, you should be able to get Racepak OBDII module and then your IQ3 will be able to get the OBDII streaming data liket hrottle position, air temp, coolant temp, etc. Vehicle speed should be on there as well.

^ Great point! Forgot all about that.

If he still has the OE ECU in place, the stock gauges should work anyway. He's got something not wired properly.
