quick haltech wire question (this is an easy one)
(Haltech E6K) Where is a good safe place to connect the grey +12V ignition switched wire? The book says it only draws 0.5A and not to connect it to the accessory outputs of the ignition switch. Where do you guys have yours connected?
Thanks for helpin a brotha out :bigthumb: |
The old harness that goes to the old ECU should have a power wire in it. Just grab a lest light:D

The old harness is on the garage floor. I want to know where other people have theres hooked up because I'm worried about this 0.5amps thing that the book mentioned. I know where I can tap power from, I just don't want too much power.

I got power from where the stereo used to plug into
|
Straight from the ignition switch - I didn't know the manual actually says not to do that. :)

The stereo doens't get power while the engine is cranking does it?
RETed, you hooked your up to the ignition switch with no ill side effects? It says on page 20 (E6K version 9.0) not to connect it to the accessory outputs of the ignition switch. |

Oh, if you put it that way, the "ACC" wire usually turns off during cranking, and you need the Haltech on at this point!  I think what they meant is to make sure you tap the right wire that is also on during cranking!  This would make more sense. :) It's not a power draw problem.  At least with the FC's, there isn't a problem with sucking anotgher half an ampere from that circuit. -Ted |
I see what you are saying. I was thinking it meant not to connect it to the ignition because there would be too much power being sent to the Haltech. Thanks for the help:bigthumb:

I think it was from the stereo... Could have been from somthing else though.

Igntion switch.......it does not lose power while cranking
