PS1000 on FD
 
Hi guys, im tossing up which ecu to go with, the ps1000 seems like good bang for buck, and I just want to make sure it will control all the things i would need on an FD running sequential twins and flex fuel. Such as OMP, emissions, fans, AC etc...

It won't run sequential. You'll need the Elite 2500 to do it properly.

I thought that might be the case. The elite 1500 wouldnt be good enough?

No. To run the full sequential system correctly I think you need 6 outputs. Plus 4 for the OMP, one for tach, and at least one for the fans.

Yes, but it won't allow you to properly control the outputs. The Elite has more options for how the outputs function and allow 3D control of all output. If you want to do it righ, the 2500 is the way to go. It's just a better ECU in general as well.

I just read that the adaptronic select uses only 2 outputs to control the sequential setup, why do the haltechs need to use more?

I've wired OMPs on AEM, Haltech, and Syvecs, as well as the OE ECU. They all use 4 outputs. The question may be why does Adaptronic only use 2. It may simply be nomenclature and marketing. An example is the Haltech Sport series. The Sport has a dedicated stepper motor control. So those 4 outputs can run a stepper motor and nothing else. So we don't say, when you decide to run the OMP, that you're using up outputs because they really can't be used for anything else other than a stepper idle control, if you had that. But, on the Elite, the 4 individual stepper outputs can be reconfigured to use as generic Digital Pulsed Outputs for things like boost control, BAC/idle control, etc. So we're now saying, you're using outputs. In the end, you need 4 outputs that switch individually between ground and 12V to properly run the OMP, regardless of what you call them.

Sorry I was talking about the outputs to control the sequential twin turbo system, you said earlier that you think they require 6 outputs.

But adaptronic say their select ecu only uses 2 outputs to operate the sequential twin turbos:
"We drive this using two outputs; one drives the twin turbo control (and intake control) activated on RPM and MAP.
The other is configured as a precontrol output; this is controlled by the ECU to come on a fixed time before the twin turbo RPM condition is met"

Again, I can't speak for what anyone else does. There are 6 solenoids for sequential turbo control.

Turbo Control (x2)
Turbo Pre-Control
Charge Control
Charge Relief
Wastegate Control

The turbo control are linked on one channel, so I misspoke and you can run the system with 5 channels and not six. Now, how you can do it properly with less is a good question.

The adaptronic link i posted basically explains their procedure for controlling the sequential setup.
From the dyno graph it looks like the transition is more pronounced, but otherwise it works as it should.
So perhaps it doesn't control it as effectively as it could using more outputs, but it still does a fairly decent job with using only 2 outputs?
