Does anyone have a better basemap that I could use? I have a stock s5 Turbo II engine, turbo, and injectors with an Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump and regulator set at 45 psi. I also have LS2 coils if that is needed. All run off a PS1000 system.

Andy87t2 Jan 15, 2012 07:16 PM

I am getting ready to start up my 87 turbo 2 With my E6X... Mods are:
Street port s4 13bt, 650cc primary 1680cc sec, Gt4088, gm 3bar map, and stock coils.

I plan to use the 13bt s4 550/1600 3 bar map but what would you recommend i do to account for the larger injectors? Also what should i do to account for the street port? anything?

dznutzuk Feb 17, 2012 10:11 AM

Ok, I'm getting reaaaally fed up now. I'm having a problem with being too rich, since I upgraded and bought 630cc siemens deka primary injectors. I'm also starting to believe that maybe I shouldn't have used Pineapple cutouts(I have 2 engines/cars in front of me prepared by 2 totally different people). I've tried numerous times with different maps which were for 550cc primaries/removed 10% throughout the ranges under 0, and then 3%, 4%, etc... Also tried doing it through injector trims but with no luck. When I do get it to start, it runs like shit, really funky idle(yes this was ported exactly as the cutouts/really nice job), really really rich and generally doesn't want to idle under 1200rpms. Just like to say that this is a freshly rebuilt engine(haven't done a compression test as I can drive it anywhere) the engine has only run about 20min at high idle. Specs are:

E6k-oldie but goodie
13bre with pineapple medium ports
ls2 coils
Stock 13bre CAS(same as 2nd gen)
siemens deka 630cc primaries, ford 1680cc secondaries
Walbro 255, Aeromotive FPR 41psi base w/out vacuum
BW S series turbo

Andy87t2 Feb 18, 2012 12:35 AM

How old are the plugs? My care would barely run, then i put new plugs in it and it ran like a champ! Also, you need to adjust the 2d fuel map bars to get the idle to steady out

dznutzuk Feb 18, 2012 03:26 AM

These were brand new plugs, $130 for 4 stock spark plugs, can't really afford to buy new ones again.

bumpstart Feb 18, 2012 05:25 AM

confirm you have set up the timing check correctly, and TPS is calibrated, else dont pass go

dznutzuk Feb 18, 2012 11:00 AM

Check and check. Actually I was having a problem being too rich, as I was trying to lean it out it was actually smoking even more-huge huge clouds. Everything's getting better though, I guess as it was getting leaner the temperatures in the exhaust and cat were getting hotter and burning up all that excess fuel in the system. It's still a little hard to get it started though.

bumpstart Feb 18, 2012 11:55 AM

you should not change any of the fuel map until the car is fully warmed up and you evaluate and correct the fuel map then
instead -
the correction map for coolant temp is most likely culprit and is usually very crude
and you need to make progressive changes to those parts of the map on a daily basis till you get it smoothed out
you only get one chance a day to evaluate your correction from the previous day before the chance is lost as the temps have moved past that cell in the map

Andy87t2 Feb 20, 2012 02:04 PM

I have been fighting this battle lately, crazy rich idle at start up. fixed now and it warms up much faster when it isnt running so rich.

I bought an E8 from e bay about 6 months ago. Everything has been installed, wired. connected with halwin. This e8 was already installed a S4 T2. Im close to making my 1st attempt to start my rebuilt engine. Im hoping by next weekend it will be running. Im lookin to see if i can get help with a base tune/setup. im sure many of the settings are already correct, but i would apreciate a revise and edit if someone can help out. I saw that there were other base maps already available, but i havnt found much for anything like my setup.

SETUP: S5 engine using S4 T2 rotors. GM collant & air temp sensors, S4 tps, LS1 coils. K27 turbo Blitz (KKK), 750cc primarys, and 1200cc secondarys. using a bac valve, & 50mm synapse wg.

help is much apreciated, just need her running so i can take her to see steve kan for a tune. Hoping to get seat time and burn some tires this season

Anyone have a map for a P1000 for a FD? I'm using aem coils, 6x1000cc ID injectors, aem fuel pump and etc. I know most people don't use 6x1000 but all I really need is a map for the 1000 primaries just to break in the engine and bring someone over from the states to tune it. Anyone???

Hey guys,

As you all know, ive got my own Haltech map database going, and i feel i can share some of the base maps that ive mustered up over the years, i am sharing them with the hopes that if you do use one of them and improve upon it, i would like you send it back to me so that i can see what has been done and i can update the old version.

I have accumulated a good deal of experience with Haltech and am now in the process of doing some R&D work for them as well. I've posted the most common maps that i have and indicated precise details on what each map is for. I should mention, most of my maps have been addapted for my own country's weather conditions which is basically summer all year round with temps ranging between 27-33 degrees C most of the year, so you might want to revise that when you upload it and are doing the fine tuning.

Also, most importanly are the throttle pump settings, i always try to make drivability as best as possible through the throttle pumps, BUT, this is something that is also a trial and error deal, and most of the time is a vehicle specific situation, so your own car will need to be revised. Some maps wont have any pump tweaking since they would only be base starting maps and have very little if any road trials.

Ill start uploading maps today and sort them as best i can, then ill use this post for future reference. Also, please remember the maps will be given free of charge, and it should be noted that i cannot be held responable for any damages caused by the improper use of these maps. If you use them I STRONGLY URGE YOU to carefully review it, thoroughly observe your own engine's behaviour when using it, and make sure you properly retune it to your specs, NO 2 ENGINES ARE A LIKE, so please be careful.

Any feedback on your part will be greatly appreciated, and if you feel you've improved upon the map please email it to me and i will update it in the DB.

Here are some Rotary maps (updated 27-Apr-06):

E6K - Map, Stock Motor, stock injectors, 3bar MAP sensor, Stock Ignition/Coils. Series 4/5 FC Stock.

E6K - Map, Street Port Motor, 550/800cc injectors, 3bar MAP sensor, TO4 Turbo, FMIC, stock Ignition/Coils.
Series 4/5 FC.

E6X - Map, Stock Motor, stock injectors, 3bar MAP sensor, Stock Ignition/Coils. Series 4/5 FC Stock.

E6X - map, 550/1600cc injectors, some mods, turbo upgrade. Series 6.

E6K - Series 4/5 with 550/1600cc injectors and some mods. Series 4 FC w/ mods.

E6X - Series 4/5 with 550/1600cc injectors and some mods. Series 5 FC w/ mods.

E8/E11 - For Stock 13BT engine, stock injectors, stock intercooler, stock turbo, w/ 3bar map sensor and haltech temp sensors. Dont forget to zero in your timing. Map is set to Direct Fire for LS1 coils, to be used in a 2nd Gen RX-7 with toggle feature switch Spark Mode to Distributor and Ign3 becomes the toggle select wire and Ign2 goes to the Trailing side. Ign4 is available as DigOut/PWM output.

E8 - 13BT S4/S5 engine, toggle feature enabled, 550/1600cc injectors. I need help with this one, can anybody try this and tell me what the result was? I also need advise on the Trailing Map, I roughly set the split to 15 degrees, and have it drop off constantly from 4500 RPMs and up.

E6X - Stock S4/S5 (with toggle feature), Stock Injectors, Stock Motor, Stock turbo, internal 2.5bar map sensor.

More to come later.

Please note:

- DONT FORGET TO ZERO YOUR TIMING WHEN LOADING A NEW MAP! If you already know the exact values for the trigger angle and tooth offset your engine requires change the ones on the map if they differ.

- These maps are only designed as a starting point, you will need to fine tune it to your particular vehicle. Go through them thoroughly so you know what has been done.

- If you already have a map that starts and runs your engine, you should stick with that map and just copy paste the ignition and fuel tables only, or import them.

- If you use one of these maps and get worst results than with your current map, but still feel your map can be improved, you can send it to me and i can probably clean it up so it runs a little smoother.

- Some of these maps have the PWM outputs enabled for something, please go through them to make sure they are correctly wired for your car, if not disable them immediately.

- Some of these maps have been setup to run with MSD ignition boxes, if you are runing stock ignition components your settings WILL BE DIFFERENT, please consult me for the right settings.

I really need one how i download those maps?
