Please Confirm Power Hookup on E6K

Hello everyone,

I have been trying to complete my used E6K installation on my '88 TII, and as right now, i am not getting any communication, RECONNECT HALTECH, between the laptop and the E6K. I have an 'ol school Dell Latitude laptop with Window'98 with port setting to COM1.

So now i want to test if the ECU is getting power. So my wiring to power the ECU is as follow:

HALTECH E6K '88 TURBO

RED BATTERY +VE >>>>>>>> B+
GRY SWITCHED +12VDC >>>> IG1
GRN AUXILIARY INPUT >>>>>> NOT USED
ORG FUEL PUMP +12VDC >>>> FUEL PUMP
ORG FUEL PUM POSITIVE >>>> FUEL PUMP
BLK GROUND >>>>>>>>>>>> B-

And now, I was wondering if someone can help and confirm my wiring is correct. Later today, i will be putting the DMM to use and get some numbers on each of the wires.

Thanks everyone.

Dunno if this was a typo, but this needs to go to "B+".
Side note: I dunno how you could tell which orange (thick) goes to B+ / fuel pump, but it doesn't matter as long as one goes to one side and the other goes to the other side.
You cannot have both orange (thick) wires going to the fuel pump.

OTOH, the E6K is notorious for blowing the comm chip, and be prepared to send the unit back to Haltech (AUS) for repairs... :(

I will give it a go with the fuel pump set up. Thanks RETED

If the ECU is bad, how can get the ECU to Haltech?

Well i dont know about notorious, but sure, it blows from time to time, as well as the trigger from miss connections, you can also send it to Haltech California, they're doing repairs there too. And also yeah, one of the orange wires goes to battery positive, and the other to fuel pump possitive, then, the other terminal on the pump is ground.

Call them up. 760-598-1941.

Thanks Claudio.

I have already contacted Dave of Haltech USA. And i just wanted to exhaust all the possibilties and tests before i send it Dave.

Okay. I have switched the one of the fuel pump line to B+.

I put the DMM to the ecu, and i have found out the following:

RED BATTERY +VE >>>>>>>> B+....12V
GRY SWITCHED +12VDC >>>> IG1...12V w/ ign ON
GRN AUXILIARY INPUT >>>>>> NOT USED...
ORG FUEL PUMP +12VDC >>>> B+...12V w/ ign ON
ORG FUEL PUMP POSITIVE >>>> FUEL PUMP...w/ ign ON
BLK GROUND >>>>>>>>>>>> B-...Did not Test

The other thing i noticed was when IGN ON with a TEST LIGHT, on teh fuse block, I could get 12V from the FUEL PUMP 20A fuse, but i wasn't able to get anything from the Injector Power 10A fuse and the ECU 3A fuse.

Can it be that i have a harness issue- not getting the power to the Injectors and the ECU, or is it the ECU, where the E6K distributes the power to the injectors after the ECU is on?

One of the Orange Fuel pump wires should be connected direct to the battery. The other to the positive on the fuel pump. You could also do the same with GND if so prefered.

In order for you to know where the problem lies, I would recommend isolating circuits, and testing. Make sure you have power to your fuse block... from the fuse block, make sure that you are getting voltage to the relays(and they are "clicking" on")... from there, make sure you have voltage going into the ECU on the correct pins, as referenced from an E6K wiring schematic...

If all else fails, send it to Haltech in California..................

I have a sugjestion, perhaps someone could post the contact info for haltech, USA and Australia and make it a sticky in this forum

Alright, all tests have been done, and it looks like the ECU is going to get it checked out by HALTECH USA. It is going SoCal for repairs.

I just called Haltech USA, and spoke to Matt, and my E6K is still GOOD! :) Now, i have to further investigate why the Haltech is not communicating with Laptop.

Can anyone help me on the settings on the laptop if possible.

I have a Dell Pentium II Laptop with Windows'98.

I got the E6K back from Haltech this morning. And got the E6K to connect to the Haltech. I found out that the harness clip on the Fuse Block of the Haltech, one of the wires were switched with the ecu wire and that was why it couldn't get connection. Luckily i have another fuse block with the correct wiring.

Thanks everyone for helping out and help me diagnosis the problem.:)
