Sorry if this is a simple question. I did a search but didn't come up with a good answer.

Does the Elite have any sort of over-voltage protection? Yesterday I noticed that my alternator is on its' way out and I'm thinking the ecu wouldn't be happy if it spiked voltage.

It does not. Generally speaking if you're supplying 15 volts or less on a system that is expecting a 12 volt supply you're golden but please don't run on the ragged edge. Most alternators should supply 14ish volts after their regulator.
