OMP Block Off Plate (FD)

anyone have issues with front main bearing after tossing a BOP over the OMP?

I ended up tapping the oil feed (front iron) to the OMP and plugging it...overkill? I also removed the [omp] shaft during the build.

I'm thinking about dropping a reman in and I'm wondering if I leave the shaft in the front cover and just intall the BOP...if I'll be fine.

TIA

no one has tossed an Oil Metering Pump Block Off Plate on an FD front cover (without further modification) without ill effects

Tap the front iron where the galley exits into the front cover. I tap them 10-24 and use a set screw with some red loctite to seal the hole. That way you don't have to worry about oil seeping out between the iron and front cover in that area.

That's what I've done on my current engine. My question is...is this proceedure 100% necessary???

If I get a reman...do I need to pop the oil pan off, then remove the front cover and tap the iron?? I'd rather not do that with an engine that is together. I guess I have to make damn sure I get all the shavings.

No. Just leave the OMP driveshaft in the front cover and you'll be good. Plugging the passage only becomes neccesary when you remove that.

I just installed the OMP block off plate and I havn't noticed any seapage, or leaking.

I didn't realize it was recomended to plug the oil feed.

Only recommended if you remove the entire system...shaft and all.
