New Haltech user ?
 
I just bought a used e6k for my FD I dont have it in the car yet but I was trying to load the software(v6.34) on my computer and it wont open . My ? is does the e6k have to be responding with my pc for the software to work?

I assume you mean online or offline. What computer are you using, software. Its a dos based program and wont run on win2000 or XP.

might be a too new version of windows.. your comp doesnt have to be hooked up for it to work u can go off line and browse though the maps.. trying shuttin it down in msdos mode or just booting up in dos

Yeah, Windows 2000 and XP don't have the DOS platform as the older Win95 and 98 did. I bought a cheap laptop off ebay and it works great. Only thing on it is DOS and the Haltech program.

Win2000 has a DOS "emulator", and it'll run buy VERY SLOW.  Running the Haltech proggie off a DOS boot disk is a LOT faster on laptops with Win2000 OS loaded.

93 rotorhead, i just bought a 20$ antique laptop to run mine. I feel alot better when its bouncing around in the car. Check your local computer stores for used units, thats where i found mine.
