Multipoint .vs. sequential injection??
I am using an E6X on a 12A engine with a dellorto intake manifold and 2 50mm TB's. GSL-SE type injectors. 2nd Gen CAS and direct fire ignition.
Right now my fuel injectors are set up as "Multipoint" I would think it is better to set them up as "Sequential" The manual doesn't give much information how to do this. I asked Haltech and they just blew me off saying "in the real world" multipoint is fine and it's not worth the trouble to set it up as sequential. I don't believe this. Common sense tells me that the fuel injected at the right time while air is being sucked into the combustion chamber is better than squirting fuel in the intake manifold to "Hang around" and be sucked in later. Has anyone set up sequential injection?? What is a way to do this? How is the Timing (injector) handled? Thanks Steve C 1982 RX-7 |
You shouldn't be as worried about firing exactly right on a rotary engine because there is nothing to factor in like valve duration. We use an E11 V2 on the OSU Formula SAE car with sequential due to the valve train. On our cars fuel is taken in pretty much at any given time thus there is not much room to improve by sequential.

Point is moot.
You can't fire the E6X in full sequential when in "rotary mode". You have no choice. :( -Ted |

If you've ever tuned an E11 that does offer full sequential fuel injection, you'd be surprised how smooth the engine runs. :)

Yes, having used full sequential, batch and multipoint on piston motors there is a night and day difference. Sequential is certianly the way to go.

Common sense tells me that below about 2800 RPM, sure sequential injection would be good. So cruising around town etc. its a good thing. Above 2800rpm... there is no difference, there is simply not enough time for it to make a difference.
Why do you think all ECU manufacturers make staged injection multipoint ? |
