many ignition questions

First off, has anyone seen or used the summit digital cd ignition:

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

it advertises greater current and voltage to coils with a digital design for about half the cost of a 6AL

Next what I plan to do is use 2 of the above boxes, one per coil leading, in direct ign mode off an E8, to a pair of CD Ign coils. on the leading. With a stock FC trailing coil pack but run in direct fire mode (no toggle).

Which brings me to my next question. Looking inside the factory FC coil pack at the igniter, it looks like the FC igniter is a 2 channel igniter, there is an un-used CPU 2 terminal. Has anyone ever disconnected the toggle wire and wired up the CPU 2 terminal and used it in direct ign mode?

And finally, are there any pro's/cons to wiring the CD ign box after the igniter as opposed to in place of the igniter?

I'm not planning on making that much power, maybe 400 WHP, but I want to run water injection with pump gas. And I understand water injection requires a beefy ignition.

Thanks

Scrap all that crap which takes up too much of your electrical system power and just go with LS1 coils and play with the dwell time. I just recently worked on a drag miata in Curacao with those and an E11 and they work great.

Car made 425hp and is so light it runs 8.7's.

I'm going to be using the LS7 coils which are apparently more powerful than the LS1 coils. They have built-in igniters and are available for $20/pc on ebay:

The LS1's also has built in igniters, but that price is killer. I wonder how they stack up, ill have to look into it. :D

Apparently the spark output is much greater with the LS2/7 coils than the LS1 - there are 2 different types, the Delphi you see there and then the Mitsubishi versions (which are square). Apparently the Mitsu version is better, but are about $60/pc in comparison.

The only difference in terms of setup is that they use falling edge to fire (or whatever the opposite of the LS1 coils are, dont remember).

I went ahead and bought those coils for 80 bucks. That was too good of a deal too pass up.

Where can I get the coil harness?
