Had this same problem last weekend. My new laptop (well new to me a Pentium 1) would not connect to my E6K. Found out the laptop did not like Win 98 and the Haltech software. So I deleted Windows and installed DOS. How the laptop will connect to the Haltech.

I am running windows 95 which is a dos operating system.

I think this has bee covered a few times in the last two weeks.. one of them my thread. plain and simple it's a crap shoot to find setup that will work.. adaptors, SW, laptop architecture(if my assumptions about my IBM are right), OS, OS version, halwin version, DOS emulator... I don't think anyone has a firm handle on the perfect setup for every instance.
I've found an old Dell P3 lattitude for $230 so I think I'll be getting that to try |
I was using Win 98 and it is also DOS based. And it still would not work on my Toshiba laptop. I tried every combination of settings for the com port in Windows. Flashed the BIOS with a new version. In the computer setup every cobimation was tried. And the only way my computer would connect with the Haltech was to delete Windows.

From what I have found out, the Toshiba laptops are the most trouble free, but there will be a model that will have a problem. Mine is it, Satellite 315CDS, great computer, its just Windows and Haltech won’t agree about the com port.
