I've installed an E6k, is an e11 any different?

Im currently running a megasquirt which I am not overly thrilled with for personal reasons. Im looking to go back to haltech which turns out was just fine minus the dataloging of the e6k. So I would like to step up to the e11 for the ability to add a rotor later on.

I installed/wired the e6k myself with suprising ease, and I'm just curious if the e11 is any more difficult using GM sensors?
Thanks
Tyler

Well, if you download the E11's software you will see that the sensor calibrations it has provisions for some popular applications as well as the Haltech sensors.

So all you need to do is connect them same as you would any other install.

What don't you like about the megasquirt?

Too new a system, its made from cheap components, and the support is too limited, limited functionality, and my guess is that the average user/person doesnt have the skills to get it working or put it together.

"Too new a system"
Very true. This system has take off in the last couple of years, but is still relatively young (not the parts, as they and the builders have ben working together since the 80s).

I would have fought this tooth and nail before I actually started working on one. I have the version 3 board which is slightly nicer, and it just FEELS cheap. I had a rare failure of a diode on my board causing all sorts of hell which leads me to your next point:
"the support is too limited"
This is false on one point, the guys that built the megasquirt are fantastic at helping out people on their forum, as well as some of the major MS forum members. HOWEVER, if you are the average joe, when something goes wrong, you cannot simply just call a tech line for easy answers, or send out the system to be troubleshot and repaired. YOU are responsible for that. That is fantastic if you know what your doing, but the average joe can get real frustrated here.
"limited functionality"
Kinda sorta true. When compared to a basic Microtech, it does just fine. But when compared with even an old haltech e6k, the outputs are simply greator in number for non-essential functions such as fans, water injection, boost control, intake air controllers and so on. The megasquirt can handle all of these functions and more, but had limited wiring to handle multiple at the same time.
"average user/person doesnt have the skills to get it working or put it together"
This is probably the greated point. I had a guy familiar with megasquirt build and setup my MS stuff, and it works ok except for a few minor glitches. The problem is trying to get ahold of this knowledgeable guy in a town where he has spread himself thin. He has so many MS and other projects that in order to get his help you might have to wait a few weeks. Major props to him for all the work he does for it though.

Thanks for all your responses on my original question! Sounds like i should have no problems setting up an E11.

basically its the same. there are a couple of things that get done slightly different, and you can hook more stuff up with the 11.

Can you specify whats different? Im assuming the wire colors are slightly different, but besides that anything else?

Thanks for the help fellas!
