Well I finally got a haltech e6k with e6x harness for $450 but missing a few sensors. I was able to convert my s4 tps with a homemade cam I made from beef's thread . Also got my 3 bar map so good on that . I need a iat sensor and coolant if my stock won't read right . Also I have two bad leading coils , but have a ton of working trailing . Can I just use both leading coil brackets and wiring with a single post coil from a trailing . And split the Ecu wire to both Thanks guys been looking around and found a lot of info and most likely missed the sensor thing . And so much on ignition setups it gets confusing with all the opinions . S4 coolant housing also if that matters

you can use 2 trailing coil packs.. and the trailing coils are more powerful too. Just wire the toggle signal to toggle on both coil packs. then the leading signal to the leading pack and trailing like normal

the factory coolant temp sensor should work, it just reads 10 deg too low. you need a haltech AIT sensor though

unek87 03-25-14 12:08 PM

Thanks man I was thinking it would .already got one swapped and I'll do the other now that I know for sure it will work . Lookin for iat now .

unek87 06-03-14 01:14 PM

Bump guys . I got everything wired damn near ;trailing coil still needs to be wired ) . Just need that iat sensor now . Is there one I can get from a local parts house by chance ? Isn't it just a 90's gm sensor ? Thought I read that some where . My hands are shaking I'm so happy this bitch is bout to start finally . !!!! Also when I wired my injectors in (low imp 800's & 1600's ) I wired them to the stock resistor box . . Is this right for my e6k ? And if so I only need to power the single blk/yellow in the center of the pigtail on the resistor box . I'm not hooking battery up til I find out .

We now have a direct fit air temp sensor with the GM calibration for the FC. PM me for details.

What impedance injectors are you using? You don't need the resistor pack with the E6K.

unek87 06-03-14 04:57 PM

I'll pm you . As far as injectors go I'm running 800 low imp in the primes and 1600's that I'm going to mod for sec's . Now i do have a e6k wih e6x harness that I converted hopefully right lol . Anyway I have the 4 injector wires from the Ecu wired to the injector clips and then then then the other 4 wires from the clips wired to the resistor box . So if I take the box out where do I grab power from for those wires . As a side note I no longer have the stock engine harness installed . Battery relocated and chassis harness tucked so if I have to extend that's fine . Also could I grab the 12 v switched from the same place for the stock coils ? Thanks for any insight . I've read so much from your posts and Claudio's that has help a lot in my wiring so far . I guess I over looked this bit of info .

Ok guys got it all done and wired sensors on and charged the battery yesterday . Before I go and start cranking I want to double check a few things . Now I wired it up like he Hitman notes say to and loaded one of the maps from the sticky above . I just want to make sure it's set right . So I took some pics of the setup pages . Let me know if you guys see anything wrong . I'm running stock leading coils split the signal and running two leading coil brackets and wiring with a single post coil on each bracket and stock trailing coils . 800 primary's 1600 secondary's, adjustable fpr ,fmic,s4 tps modded 255 walbro ,etc

This is my first standalone system so still trying to learn the ins and outs .thanks guys

We'll update .looked at other guys setting and from what I see it's setup to atleast start right . So went head last night and gave it a crank . Fuel pump primes ,coils have 12v's . Now I'm getting no spark .i wired the cas up like the pic below . Can anyone confirm that this is right . Thanks guys

unek87 06-23-14 08:15 PM

ok well ive gone back through the whole harness . i even gone as far as relocating certain items and shorting wires lengths . i have a power probe and checked to make sure everything has power and ground. even sanded the front cas mounting area to make sure the cas body is grounding right against block .coil pack's grounded and 12V's to them (both sides of coil? cause it is.). isnt there suppose to be 12v to cas in one of the wires in the shrouded loom ?im also not getting tach read out on the haltech\laptop or my dash . i have the the yellow blue from the trailing coil ran straight to the tach.while cranking ecu has voltage and fuel pump primes . i bypassed the stock started wire and have push button switch . ive tried to list what ive gone over diagnosing wise . im a mechanic by trade but new to the whole standalone world (ran chipped stock ecu before ) so any a knowledge you pass down would be awesome . my rx7 bookmarks are filled everything e6k (or e6x) related on this forum and others . i know ive over looked something (inless this ecu is shit :facepalm4:) thanks again guys

unek87 06-24-14 06:34 PM

bump guys . out in the garage right now . bout to check continuity again but this time write down what pins really go to what . . if that does show a break or what ever im going to use the oe cas wire . so as mentioned above i believe, i no longer have stock harness controlling anything except for switched 12v for ecu trigger and coils . speaking of coils as far as the leading coil goes . green/black goes to pink and brown gets switched 12v right ? cause i have come across a couple threads that stated that was wrong and switch them around . any thoughts ? ive mostly gone by bdc's notes on install . `and have stabbed the cas with points pointing towards cas cap screw holes and made sure its set at yellow timing mark .

unek87 06-25-14 01:11 PM

Well all pins checked out from cas to Ecu . I've even swapped cas with a spare. I guess I need to pull the front pulley off and make sure it's still in time from the last I timed it . Does any one know which way the lil dimple on the hub is suppose to face in relation to the hub key way . I done forgot and guess need to look that up now . Also the pulley setup I have is off of another rotary . It's a serp belt setup that jut runs the alt and wp . It has been time'd before with this pulley setup so I don't know . I can't go back to stock cause like a dumb ass sold my alt with double belt pulley and the rest of the pulley setup Cause this setup had a fd alt ..I'm bout to start ripping my dreads out over this .

smitty 06-26-14 06:38 AM

I think you need to look at your cas wiring. If you don't have spark timing really does not matter.
Pull the cas and spin by hand see if that gets you spark. If you can log the trigger at last home on the E6 do that and see what you get. If the E6 has trigger filters they may be set to high.
I have never even seen an E6 so this is the best I can do for you.

Well I'd did check the cas wiring from Ecu to cas connector by doing a continuity check for pin 6,7,12,13 and everything pinned out fine . Originally the harness is for a e6x but converted the harness from Claudio's write up on the haltech forum for the e6k . Had to rewire pins 7 and 12 which is red and blue wires in the cas loom from memory right now . I've also tried to spin the cas by hand with 2 cas's and got nothing a few days ago. I can load maps , see all inputs for sensors , fuel pump primes , and it does stay connected on laptop during crank . Just no spark . Thanks brotha for your input though . Anyone one else have any ideas . Does the Ecu send voltage to the cas or does the cas send to the Ecu by chance ?

unek87 06-30-14 07:38 PM

well i came across this in another thread bout wiring .

"for what its worth, i'll post it here too

If you look on HITman's installation page, to wire in the leading coil it says:

Haltech Ignition Out (light Green wire) goes to the Leading coil Pink/Red wire while the Tan wire is the 12V switched + feed for the coil.

SWAP THE WIRES OVER!!!!!!! "

is this correct ? and if so is my leading coils fried and possibly my trailing since i wired 12v to brown on coil wires ? i have more coils to swap out so thats fine . i just need to make sure . ive been all over the net trying to figure this shit out . thanks guys for any insight

unek87 07-01-14 11:47 AM

Well dug out the coils . Have a another trailing full set and extra coils to swap over to the other trailing pack . Goin to wirer it up sequential leading from bdc's write up. Hopefully this works out .

unek87 07-10-14 08:32 PM

alright guys i've replaced everything including shielded cas wiring and still no rpm and no spark .should i try and find a external adapter like a haltech ra8,ra10, or msd 8509's. is there any other way of setting up a trigger besides cas with the e6k ? i know the internal adapter has to not be working . ive gone over everything . everything stays connected on data page just no rpm which means no spark.
i really need some help guys

So was wondering if I could use a trigger like this fd Hall effect setup with a e6k the specs from the trigger wheel are 60-2 if that helps any . Just wanting to get this figured out . Thanks

unek87 07-17-14 11:29 AM

Bump guys . I've dug around a lil bun still looking for options

No. Has to be stock 12+1 with that ECU.

unek87 07-17-14 01:14 PM

Well I guess I'm ordering those msd 8509's then . If that's doesn't work then I guess the Ecu is shot in side somewhere :/ . Dammit I miss driving my car .

unek87 11-10-14 11:03 AM

One last shot

Alright guys well I'm going to order the msd adapters today and give this thing one last chance . I really want the rotary motor to work out but if this doesn't work ..I have 5 ls motors ranging from 3 5.3's, 1 6.0 and one ls1 with a t56 on pallets waiting . Do I want to start all over again with a new build right now ?, not really ... So if anyone has insight into my issue help a brother out . Or there will be one more 7 with out a rotary on the streets .

unek87 12-04-14 10:35 AM

Got the controllers in from summit . $165 shipped . Just sketched out my diagram to wire in . pullied the dash to install a black carpet I got so I have a clean shot for install . Getting the 7 trailered up to work tomorrow night so I can work on it here at the shop during our down time right now . Fingers crossed

And just a pic of what the 7 looks like .

unek87 12-08-14 12:06 PM

Everything is wired up and I'm not get nothing still . Trigger and home input set to hall effect .
Trigger and home edges set to falling
Output edge is set to falling . Stabbed cas per Hitman with point set to bolt holes on cas cover . Please help guys in the shop with all the guys scratching heads . Scoped that the msd 8509's are sending a single to the e6k just not getting anything . Help !!!!
