Installing additional temp sensors
Always have a few people asking how to add additional temp sensors to the ECU to display and log things like oil temp, fuel temp, ambient air temp, you name it. The common two-wire sensors we would use for these functions work great, but the circuit needs a pull-up added so that the sensors will output the correct 0-5V signal for the ECU to read. The built-in air temp and coolant temp circuits of the ECU have the pull-up circuits internal to the ECU. But when we want to add additional temperature circuits on the AVI channels, we need to add the pull-up externally. All you need is a 1k ohm resistor. Wire it as shown in the image below.

I like to use the aluminum cased resistors because they're not nearly as fragile as a simple ceramic resistor. |
