Ign/by

Hey guys, I just ordered an E6X for my turbo 2 last night and had a few questions that were coming to mind when I was reading the manual.

The first question that may explain some of my other ones is what exactly is copied to the computer when I download a hitman map? I picked up his map for a T04 turbo with 1600cc secondaries and I'm not sure if I'm just looking at ignition and fuel maps or if this calibrates other settings for the ECU as well.

The reason I am asking is I started to read the manual and found that it suggest a ignition divide by of 1 for a rotary and the setting I found was 2. For one I would like to understand what it's suggesting. Is that the number of times it's going to fire for one rotation of the shaft for each plug?

I have a lot to learn and I'll try and keep from posting too much small stuff for you guys but for the most part I'm just wondering if all of these settings such as ign/by and if decel cutoff should be disabled. Thanks a bunch, Zach.

ign/by is how often the injectors will fire:
Ignition Divide By is the number of
ignition pulses that will be counted until
the next injection pulse. For almost all
multipoint systems, injection should occur
once per revolution and so Ignition Divide By
should be set to half the number of cylind-
ers.If the system is operating in Batch Fire
or Sequential mode, or is a rotary, then a
value of 1 is suggested.

it's pretty clearly described in the manual, which is where the above was copied from.

As for the fuel cut on decel, it's a good idea to leave it disabled when tuning initially, once you have the engine mapped out pretty well you can enable it to save some gas and shoot less flames, above ~2500rpm seems to be popular setting, works fine for me.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense either.
I would thing going IGN BY 1 would be better, but Hitmans says the 13B likes it at / 2.

weve done it both ways and 2 seems more responsive

Do you have to change anything else when setting it from 1 to 2 or vice versa or is this (for a rotary) independent of CAS teeth settings, etc.?

I always thought this was the number of home trigger impulses between spark firing... so /2 would be only half as often, but maybe I misunderstand it?

Yeah, those are the claims.
We tried tuning it /1, and I really feel no real difference, but that was a very limited experience.

Unless I'm getting the idea behind the whole thing wrong, on a 13B, /1 will shoot the requisite fuel injector pulse everytime the front rotor goes TDC?  The rear rotors will always get fuel in the middle of it's intake "stroke", but fuel puddling takes care of adequate AFR's.

If we go /2, then the Haltech shoots every other front rotor face, and this gets kinda confusing on what exactly happens to try and describe in words. :( Doesn't this require more fuel puddling to make it work?  Wouldn't there be an inherent lag time if there is a transient in the end of one pulse, and the Haltech has to count two revolutions before shooting in the next fuel injection pulse?

I think I'm confusing myself... :(
