I hear alot of complaints about EMI
What wires cause the problems?
I routed my trigger wires through the passenger side of the car with everything else and the coils I ran through the drivers side as far away from the trigger as possible, the coil power wires never join the main sensor harness, they go to a relay and a switch on the dash. that should pretty well take care of that issue right? |
The things that cause the biggest headaches are the things that produce the biggest voltages / currents.
This means the coil / spark plug wires / spark plugs. Keep it away from those - that's a rule of thumb. Others have reported that the alternator is also a concern. Makes sense since it actually produces AC (alternating current) run through a rectifier to get DC (direct current). Pain in the ass part is that both the FC and FD run their stock ignition triggers very close to the stock alternators. :( -Ted |
When I was using an FC style CAS with a 13b-re, I had constant problems with ign trigger noise
Since switching to a 13b-rew front cover, the problems are over. I would still love to move up to a hall effect sensor. |
Ill keep the altenator issue in mind and possibly wrap the cas in EMI sheilding tape. Ill probably wrap the trigger wire also just to be doubly sure.

It's funny because I've yet to have an E6X EMI related problem on any application. Now I've had issues with the said unit firmware/software wise which were esasily solved with a re-flash. Most EMI problems are due to installation errors.

Anyone know of any good EMI deflecting wrap or tape to wrap the CAS wiring with?
|
Found some 100 micron Aluminum Foil Tape.
Wrapped my CAS wiring in it...and um, if EMI or RFI gets through to it now...then nothing is going to block it. |

So have i, i havent had any sort of issues of this nature, only happens when improper trigger gain and filter are applied. When set right, there are no problems what so ever.
