How do I mount the haltech TPS to a s4 TB while keeping the stock OMP operational
Pretty much what the title says. I have seen lots of directions for the s5 TB or the s4 while rendering the stock OMP system useless, but for now I would like to keep the system operational. I know about making a bracket, but I am looking at the TB right now and I see nowhere to mount the sensor on the shaft. Also, I know all about the advantages of premixing. I premixed on my last car, and frankly I just don't feel like hassling with it right now. I'm going to rebuild it in a year or two and I just don't think its worth it in this case.

Why don't you want to use the S5 throttle body? I used the S5 throttle body on my S4 and just transferred the metering pump rod assembly over. You only need to hook up the full range tps too. Alot easier than making a haltech tps bracket.

I'm using the s4 TB and OMP because that is what I have. I am using the Haltech TPS because it came with the haltech when I bought it. I would prefer to not have to source out a s5 TB right now since I would like to get it up and running this weekend, plus I already did the TB mod on this one.
Does anyone else have any ideals, or am I just SOL? |
I was about to make a little lever operator but I realized I barely drive the car, so I might as well ditch the system and premix. However, I still have the idea in my head. On my TB I have the haltech TPS where the OMP lever normally is (i'd imagine everyone has it here). What I did was bend a small piece of aluminum into a U-shape so it can mount on the TB valve rod. It would "wrap" around the TPS and still leave the little rotating cylinder the OMP rod connects to in the stock location. Right now I am at work, but I can get you a diagram to understand when I get home later if you want to PM me.

you can easily get rid of the rod and use a bike brake cable if you want to mount it differently. the amount of force required is bugger all.
really you have lots of options, just up to you :) |
I agree with havoc. Im using a aftermarket tps on my s4 tb and Im running a s5 front cover with a s5 elec omp.

Another option.....
Since you want it running this weekend, just hook up your s4 tps. It'll read idle and then go full throttle at about 30%. You can get the car running, then source out a s5 throttle body and plug that one in and recalibrate the tps. |
When you guys say use the S5 throttle body do you guys use the NA or Turbo throttle body?

You have to use the turbo throttle body. The NA one is totally different from the turbo one.
