Help with my haltech e6k
 
ok i just bought a FD with a Haltech E6k ecu. and i downloaded the program to my computer via the Haltech website. now i was wondering if i plugged the ecu to my laptop, would the current settings show in the program. and could i edit the settings form this screen.

please let me know because im taking the car to get tuned and i want the data saved to my laptop if possible

Yes. You'll need to run the E6K software through DOS though. Search. There are some threads going over how to do this with Windows XP (assume that's what you're running). Virtual PC and DOS Box are popular choices. The software will load offline (not connected to the actual ECU) in Windows but you'll need to be running in DOS to go online with the ECU. Once that's done just plug up, turn the ket to ON and start the software. Hit O to go online. Once it's loaded hit ALT-F to open the Files drop down menu and choose Save Maps.

You can download the instruction manual from the website as well. It'll go over how to manipulate the software.

do you have the link to the thread to be able to do this on xp. i know how to do some stuff on computers but not really a wiz with with programming.

Im not sure if you bought my car but if you did there was a disk in the bin behind the seat that had all the haltech software. The e6k in the car isnt loaded with the program on their website, it has a beta version 7.14 i think.
