halwin software
I noticed that halwin was released and was supposed to support all versions of haltech. Does it actually do that or is it just for the e11?

E11. Who said it supports all versions?
|
wonder the same thing
what does it support |
From www.hitman.hm
This is the Haltech HALWIN Programming Software that is under development but still not yet completed. It will allow programming of all types of Haltech ECU's from the one software version. Halwin also allows "3D" viewing of fuel and ignition MAPS to let you see relationships between rpm as well as load. Halwin also has a gauges section to give you an adjustable engine data page with analogue style instruments in various styles. There are many more updates done as well including multiple windows , ability to select ranges in rpm as well as load (with linearising) , and easy to use pulldown menus. Halwin will be available as an update when it is ready for release , and will require a firmware update inside the ECU. It is expected for release in early 2002 , but please do not ask for it as it will be advertised here when available. http://www.hitman.hm/halwin2-2.jpg |
Hmm, well it's E11 only at the moment.
|
thats what I gathered
|
the original version the Hitman is referring to was to work on the earlier ECU's but it never was completely developed. the new ECU uses a windows based program, but it is not compatible with the older units. hitman has not updated his site in a while. he probably has customers keeping him busy.

I emailed haltech and received this email:
Dear Chris, We are looking at the possibility, but nothing has been confirmed. If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know Kind regards, Nathan Clark Sales/ technical www.haltech.com (Please note, if you are replying to a Haltech sent email, please include your past email/s to reduce reply time.) Are there any plans to develop halwin over to the E6K platform or will it just be for the E11? I've heard conflicting info. -Chris www.illstreet.com |
I think common sense would have answered your question. new products get developement time and money. there is no incentive for a manufacturer to develope new software for legacy products, unless you are willing to buy the newer version of saftware for a premium price. I would not hold my breath waiting for the windows based software for the E6K and older units. if you need this then buy the newer ECU. the DOS saoftware works well and is relatively easy to use.

yeah common sense would tell me that... thats why it says "halwin" will be used for multiple versions of haltech products. What am I thinkin?

unfortunately the internet does not have an expiration date and alot of people just don't update there websites. best to check with the manufacturer(which you did) for updates and future projects, because sometimes people hear things and post things to the internet that eventually don't happen. but it is forever saved on the internet.
