Halwin + G4 PowerBook + VirtualPC

I haven't yet purchased the e6x for my Cosmo conversion yet, but I've been looking at laptops and the G4 PowerBook is the ultimate IMO.

Anyways, will the Halwin software run on this comp with VirtualPC?

I may be totally off, but down you need a serial port to connect to the ecu with...and i dont think the g4 has a serial port

There is a serial-USB connector available. Many people are using it with newer laptops because serial ports are becoming few and far between.

yes a G4 PowerBook is an excellent computer (should've got one instead of my iBook....) but why bother spending so much money when something cheaper & just as reliable can be had?

I have never had DOS crash on my old computers so I don't see why it would on newer ones.

Using a Mac + virtualpc +halwin is just making things much more difficult & expensive for yourself.

The laptop is not just for tuning my car, I'm going to be using it for school as well. That's why this is an important decision. :D

if that is the case, I STILL recommend getting TWO laptops.
Get the PowerBook for school and get some old & cheap PC laptop for Haltech. I can almost guarantee you that these old PC laptops go for like under $25 bucks.

PowerBooks are badass.
Remember, though, that the Haltech software is going to try to connect through the COM ports. This means that VirtualPC will have to know that it's trying to connect via COM and then translate it to the USB. I don't know if it would work.

I would do like they say, get two. That's what I'm doing - I even have an x86 laptop.
