Halwin Base Rotary Ignition Map

How good is the baseline ignition map that comes with the Halwin software? If you've used it pls let me know what you thought.

I'd like to have something descent to get me around town.

TIA,

Scott

Is this an E8/E11/E6X map? as i understand it, the only base map from haltech comes with the E11/E8 software.

It's Halwin V1.59 which I believe is for an E11 or E6X.

When you install the software it creates a baseMaps/STD directory and in there is a 2-rotor.map file.

It's just barely enough to get the car running.
Properly tuned, the ignition map is radically different.
There is a reason why it's called a "base map".

Please confirm what system you have, is it an E6X or an E11, totally different installation files, totally different map files. Either way, totally BASE MAP!

opened the box on another e8 last night and it had 1.62

1.62 lets you select between the 8 and 11

In any case, i wouldnt trust one of those base maps, i would rather get one that was worked on a real world application.

i wouldn't trust it to make any power, but i don't think you're gonna blow anything up with a basemap like this one.

Purdy! :D

Watch it.
We just got an E8 up and running this past weekend, and his order with his E8 came with a disc printed with "1.62" on it.
When we look at what was on the disc, it was NOT 1.62! :P
We had to download 1.62 from the Haltech site.
I think Haltech mislabeled a BUNCH of the CD's by mistake!
So I highly suggest to confirm what's on the CD first!

Actually, when you connect, it auto senses what ECU it's connected to.
You don't need to manual select anything, unless you want to play with it in OFFLINE mode.

i'm pretty sure it was 1.62

Man, will you look at that! only 5 bars for vacuum?! yikes! Thats the 7bar sensor right? The 5 bar also has like 7 bars for vaccum, i honestly think that is WAY! too coarse.

GUITARJUNKIE28 Jan 11, 2006 11:34 AM

oh i dunno. i just loaded up whatever base map was in the std file.

but if you're boosting 7 bar, something tells me you're probably not gonna be cruising around town under vacuum a whole lot.

eViLRotor Jan 11, 2006 06:42 PM

Haha, trueDAT.

Looks like even the Halwin for the newer EMS's still can't display vacuum in correct units....

ok, ok... i set it for a 3 bar sensor.

this is what it will look like for most guys when they set up.

GUITARJUNKIE28 Jan 11, 2006 10:07 PM

i hate how it does vacuum in psi instead of "hg.

So the base map is set for a 3 bar sensor--looks better now.

GUITARJUNKIE28 Jan 12, 2006 08:28 AM

the base map just looks like that. you can set it for any sensor you want.
