Haltech Platinum Switching off After Long Hard run
 

Hey guys.

Seeing if someone else has encountered a problem like we have had.


Car went out for a long circuit day and it performed flawlessly for around 60 laps then it started to randomly cut out(ecu would switch off but boost controller and guages and so on would stay on) and eventually the ecu switched off(and would stay off)..

The ecu would switch back on for a second or so by switching the car off and then back into ignition but it would then switch back straight off. After letting it rest for 5 minutes everything came back on and was good to go. We wernt able to race it again as the racing day was over but the car did a 3 hour drive home with no issues?

The car itself was not loosing power as everything else was still working. The only things that were not working were any devices that were ecu dependent i.e fans, fuel pumps etc. I was looking at the lights on the ecu and it was off.

Before i start to rip up wiring and etc is their something in the ecu that would possibly be like a safety cut off etc if it got too hot? THe ecu itself felt very hot ?

Some input on this would be greatly appreciated.

I have a couple ECUs running in road race cars and have not had a problem like this. Personally drove a customer's car in a one hour race and everything performed flawlessly. I would contact Haltech and speak with them.

Ok will give them a call. Im going to check through wiring one more time to make sure their isnt something else causing the problem.

I had one Platinum Sport wiring harness that had the ground wire for the ECU power relay nicked up by the ecu, buried in the wrapping that Haltech did. The fuel pump and the fan would turn on and run continually but the Haltech it self would not turn on. I know that's not your problem, but maybe it's related to one of the relays.

Well i spoke to haltech today. They definitely shut off if they get too hot. Going to move ECU from glovebox and mount it onto a metal plate to help it cool down.

Also going to check wiring one more time to be 100% safe.

i had a similar problem with the e11v2, the board gets HOT (20b, i was using everything), glovebox should work fine. mine was best just dangling in the air, with outside temps under 80, otherwise it would act up.

worst case it would go into boot mode and need new firmware....
