Haltech F3
 

Can I have peoples opinions/experiences with the Haltech F3 ecu. I know the F2 was the first introduced way back when and that the F3 replaced it. Also the F3 is fuel and ignition or just fuel. I looked on haltech's website but couldnt find info on it.

So I know its not exactly new technology but I have a line on one for a reasonable price and wanted to know if its a good unit.

Car is a 1st gen with a T2 swap and 60-1.

Did you ever get any info for the F3? Did you ever run it? Do you have a base map for it?

All F-Series Haltech's are FUEL ONLY.
If it's not on Haltech AUS' website, it's discontinued.
I wouldn't drop money on something as outdated as this thing unless it's FREE.

Geez, the original post was from 2003! Pickle, are you looking for info on the F3? its like Ted said, an old old dynosaur, some people still use it today since it was so good, but its fuel only and slower than its later versions.

I have actually seen a few of them go on ebay brand new never installed for less than 500 bucks, but for that id rather get a fuel/ignition version like the E6X or E8.

Worst case scenario, get an F10X, cost about 800 bucks with sensors.

Everything above plus there were two versions available. One was low rpm/ low boost and the other high rpm/high boost. The most common was the low revs 7000rpm)/low boost(20psi) version. You would have to send in the unit and have it modified for the high rpm/high boost version which involved a firmware/software and internal map sensor upgrade.

Ah, no, actually the difference was a simple command that would let you run both modes with one ECU. All you had to do when you started the program was type on the dos promt:

"C : \ F3 /B" or, " C: \ F3 /? " and this will tell you the different modes you could run, since the same software was for the F3 and F7 versions of the ECU. Please note, that if you enable high boost/high rpm mode, and configure the map for that, if you forget to type in the command the next time you go online with it, it will jumble up the maps. And it will work improperly, also, there is a little hickup in the software, that turns the fuel mode back to multipoint, when you're running stagging. So each time you reload a map or go online, before you start the engine, check that first too.

That's strange.
Because all the people that I knew who had f-3's had to send them in for the mod.
I'm glad I never had to use one of those anyway. I would and did have better luck blowing through carbs back then! :)
