Haltech Elite 2000 with PNP harness. Plug and go?
 

I'm running a JDM import all stock apart form catback and mild street port.
I've typically seen that the general suggestion is get a PowerFC, plug it in, and off you go as the basemap is fairly robust (obviously first priority would still be to get a tune though)

Is this the case with the Haltech PNP harness setup? I wish to still control all the stock items, i.e: the twins, OMP etc

I'm happy enough playing within the software (Previously had a megasquirt on my miata, and was quite happy tweaking settings, running VE-table autotune etc)

The plan is to eventually go single turbo with associated mods so I'd rather get an ecu "for life"

That's definitely a HUGE upgrade over your REDOM ECU. Don't make the jump until you see how she's doing first. You'll have a selection of various basemaps and a few of us on here would be happy to help you set them up to your exact needs. Given the age of the car, I'd suggest upgrading injectors and fuel pump at the same time as the ECU swap, if you do so.

NEVER Run on some bullshit basemap; you tailor it to your vehicle and build out safety nets for everything (never on a basemap).

You won't lose ANY features with the Elite as it has all the OEM integration pre-programmed (OMP, Twin Turbo Solenoid Control, etc).

Except some emission stuff from what i have found out. Or did they add that too in the latest versions?

Ooh, yes, that's likely going to be a loss. I'd already consider most emission items to be deleted since you're using "Off-Highway" (aftermarket) ECU.

Would I be missing out on much by going for the elite 2000 instead of 2500?
Biggest thing seems to be drive by wire, not sure what that would contribute though

While there's more to it than just DBW, the 1000/2000 is a good choice for most. The one thing I wouldn't want to live without is the 4D mapping, especially if you plan on setting up flex fuel.
