Haltech 1500 Elite vs AEM Infinity 6
so I’ve been researching left and right, but Id love to hear your thoughts. Ive got a studded s366 13b build underway, and I’m having a custom harness done. Trying to decide between haltech and AEM Infinity ecu. The rotary community has me leaning haltech, but my fabricator, harness maker, and tuner want me to go AEM. The only real real advantage I’ve seen with aem is things like the integrated w02 box. I’d love to hear y’alls experiences and opinions! |

I went over this on one of my threads. The highest optioned, rotary compatible AEM ECU is the Infinity 506, which to me is lacking I/O. The software of the AEM is superb. They WILL NOT extend support to the 708, 710, and 712 series.
The jump from a 2500 from a 1500 is worth every penny. The Problem With THIS Post Is You Put It In HALTECH, Not the General ENGINE MANAGEMENT FORUM. So guess what? You'll get more people telling you to go Haltech... My advice is to install both softwares, build a basemap to your liking with both, and go through features and functions of each. AEM wins a few here, as does Haltech. They each have their drawbacks. Injector Staging is *supposedly* done better (seamless) on the AEM, however the Common Injection feature of the Haltech is better for injector lifespan (as primaries aren't always hovering your maximum DC% target, and instead drop down to a common level with the next stage of injection). Layouts are MUCH different, and that's something you should examine to see what you like. |

Here's a basemap for the AEM 506 that I built out a LONG time ago. You get an idea of what the ECU can handle. It's VERY good.
My Haltech Elite 2500 basemap I won't throw on here because I think a lot of it is proprietary information that I've gathered. |

AEM Infinity and Haltech Elite both have somewhat automated staging. Like everything else, they approach things a little differently and they’re both adjustable in their own way. Both are easy to get the staging correct. The reference to common mode makes me think you have the old Haltech Sport systems confused with the Elite. I’ve tuned both and they’re equally easy to tune. They both work well. The Elite offers more user configurable functions that the Infinity does. Pretty much anything you dream up as far as a strategy or sensor you’d like to add you can do with the Elite. The Infinity is more locked in to functions defined by AEM. In the end, both work well and have advantages. Either will work well for you in the hands of a competent installer and calibrator. |
The Haltech, hands down makes a better usage of "open ended calibration" in which you can setup tables to your liking. AEM does this to some extent, but Haltech is blowing it out of the water in that regard. Good points, Chris. :)
