General Question about the firmware]

I downloaded the firmware to my hard drive, But when i try to open the software it says something like its not a surported file or it has been damaged, I have abdoe 9 loaded, It works for the manuals and sreen savers, But won`t allow me to open the file even when I have it hooked up to my haltech, I am using a brand new gate way with 4 gig of ram, Its a turionx2 processer, with Vista. Am using a serial port adapter to usb connector and all its drivers are loaded. Any help would be great. By the way Chris Ludwig has done a great job tuning my car, I just want to be able to ajust things like cooling fan turn on and off, and idle speed, adjust the throttle pump setting. Just want to look at whats going on inside that pretty little maroon colored box.:)

The firmware is code that is used by the ECU itself for operation. It is not the software you need to connect with the ECU. You're ECU was already setup with the build 35 firmware, which is the latest available. You would use software version 1.89 to connect with this ECU. You can download that software from this link.

Once downloaded you will need to unzip the file and install it. Once it's installed you simply connect the laptop to the ECU and open the software.

It says 0 Kb, That means it never downloaded to my harddrive, All it says is halwin 1.89
When I right click there nothing like that your talking of that comes up. Maybe the file didn`t download.

Right-click on the link about and select Save File As... I always direct files to be saved to the Desktop so I know where they are when they're finished.

Once the file is downloaded (takes about 1 minute on broadband) you will see a zipped file appear on the desktop. It will look like this.

http://ludwigmotorsports.com/haltech/screen.jpg

Right-click on that file and select Extract All. Follow the steps in the extraction wizard, again saving the files to the desktop. Once the file is unzipped you will get another file folder on the desktop. The new file will also be named Halwin 1.89 but it will not have the zipper on the folder icon. Double click that folder to open it. Double click the Install Disk folder. Double click the Setup Launcher. This will start the installer and you're good to go.

If you have an empty file with no content the download process did not finish and you will need to start over.

Sorry for all the trouble, It looks like you have made it clear enough for me to understand, I`ll try it when I get home tonight. Thanks again.
