Fuel pump shuts off during haltech startup?
 

For some reason my fuel pump turns off after a few seconds. I traced my 12v ign and it does not switch off (Haltech wire grey). Its almost like the haltech is turning the pump off and does not turn it on when I start the car? Is there a certain set-up I need in the haltech or did I wire something wrong. None of my gauges flicker off. (My lap top does shut off since its connected to the cigarate power)

My grey wire shows 12v all the time when on.
The fuel pump wire loses voltage after about 10secs.

How do you know it shuts off?

On my Wolf3D, when you turn the key, the fuel pump will prime the fuel system for a few seconds...you can hear it go.

Then there is nothing until you actually start the car. Maybe its the same thing?

how did you wire the orange wires and the relays?

I know it shuts off since I hear it turn off. Also no more fuel pressure. Also had meter hooked up measure voltage. voltage to pump then no voltage:)

I wired the haltech orange wire to fuel pump and battery. Left ground wire connected as is.

I know it works since I hear the fuel pump turn on then quiet. Also can see fuel pressure rise then shut off.

Fuel pressure isn't supposed to drop after it turns off.
Is there something weird with your set-up that gets rid of the check valve?

Sometimes it holds the pressure. Figured the fuel just went back in the tank or something. Did not know there was a check valve somewhere?

Nothing should be different. Just parallel fuel lines with 1600cc injectors and new fuel pump.

I will be checking the grey ignition wire to see if it switches power off during starting. This is the only thing that it could be.

relays?

How do you check the relay? It must work since the pump does prime. It actually holds the pressure if I turn the car on and turn the switch off then on.

For some reason the fuel pressure drains if I turn it to start then leave it on aux power.

Yeah, most stock fuel pumps have a check valve.
The Walbro upgrade fuel pumps I know have check valves in them.

Is this with an E6X? If so there was a bug in some of the early units. I have the same problem with mine. Had to hard wire the fuel pump trigger to the ignition switch, bypassing the Haltech. Haltech is aware of the problem.

ive noticed if the voltage drops below about 8ish that the haltech kinda shuts down. maybe the voltage drops enough during cranking to turn off?

I am also having a similar problem, it turns off after it started,
I talked to haltech and we have figured that it would not be the "glitch" as C. Ludwig was speaking of, because the relay does not click to turn off the fuel pump as the engine stalls.
I sure would like to figure this out!

Double check to see if the relay is working properly?
Also, check the fuel pump fuse to see if it's good?
I know another guy who said his E6X had the fused switched (20A is for fuel pump), and the smaller fuse just popped the first time he tried to get it started.

the relay does seeem to be working properly.
I will check the fuse tonight.
The relay doesn't click again (off) until engine speed has reached 0.
Would any of the settings be causing anything?

the fuse is good, the relay is working and so does the fuel pump (checked by removing it).

Im having the same problem with my E6X. After alot of cranking, the volt drops to below 8 volt and the ecu and fuel pump do not work.


But it did not start when i had 12volt either so, might be somthing els wrong here.

I would advise that you run totally new wires to your fuel pump from the haltech realay. I didn't do it and I had difficulties. I would suggest that, if then it doesn't work then you know for certain it is something else.
