F9A V3.6 works fine, V4.6 doesn't - help!

I have an F9A that was upgraded by Haltech Dallas a couple years ago. Everything is fine when I run the V3.6 software. There seems to be sporadic communication problems between the F9A and the laptop when I run V4.6 software.

I want to run the V4.6 software because it gives more datalogging information, allows the use of two trim knobs, adds the full throttle map and probably a few other things that I haven't noticed yet.

The EPROM revision is S3V18 and the label on the ecu is F9A 016.

Do I need different firmware to run V4.6? Jumpers?

Thanks!

Why don't you ask Haltech AUS directly?

Ted, I did and this is their reply:

There should be no problem in using the later software with your F9 - there will be no more features available however.

This is not the case, there is a lack of very important features running the older software. Yes, I have emailed them back with no reply yet.

Here's the answer:
There are various versions of the F9A in both circuit board architecture and firmware (that is burnt into the EPROM). Some of the older F9A's cannot be upgraded to utilize the latest software revisions.

Thank you to Matt at Haltech for all of the excellent information!
