Erratic Trigger before last home readings on E6X (trigger problems?)
 

I have an FC that I am trying to get running right, and it has never quite been right since I put the haltech in. The first unit I got was bad when I received it, but I know have a freshly rebuilt E6X direct from Haltech.

Ever since I put the new one in, it runs perfect sometimes, but other times it feels like it is missing, especially under load. I looked at the diagnostics, and the "trigger before last home" reading is normally at 2, but occasionally it will go down to 1. Sometimes it will even miss at idle, and I have observed it go down to 1 exactly when it missed.

Is this a sign of trigger problems?

Are you using the CAS or custom trigger? Reason I ask is because trigger before last home should be 12 with the CAS.

Regardless, with either system trigger before last home should never change. If it does, you have a trigger problem.

Stock CAS. I had read in another post that it was supposed to be 12, which is what started me out wondering about it. What could cause it to be at 2? It is stabbed perfectly, and timing is all set correctly. Would a bad CAS cause that to happen?

Also, could a bad CAS cause the tribber be last home value to change occasionally, or is it definitely interference?

Thankfully, I haven't worked with an X in quite some time. It's possible they resolve the multiple teeth down to the two main trigger teeth as far as the count goes. Meaning the trigger count before last home would correctly read 2 instead of 12. I'm just guessing. Claudio should be able to answer that one.

Again, either way the ECU is missing trigger events when this happens. It's most likely a noise issue with the CAS loom being in proximity to the alternator or ignition components. That's just all too common with the X.

I rerouted it away from the alternator, but I'll check it out again to make sure there isn't anything else. Unfortunately I just don't have the funds for a Platinum Sport, or I would have gotten one, and I just didn't see anything else for sale when I needed it. If necessary I might have to totally seperate the trigger wire from the rest of the harness, but I really hope it doesn't come to that.
